  • Publication number: 20240068770
Abstract: A method for securely maintaining a handgun in a holster is provided. The method comprises a secure handgun holster receiving, at a circuit board within the holster, contact from a lever within the holster, the contact resulting from pushing action of the lever; The method also comprises the holster waking up the circuit board based on the received contact. The method also comprises the holster verifying, via an authorized user detection process executed at least by the circuit board, that a provider of the push action is an authorized user of a handgun presently held by the holster. The method also comprises the holster activating, based on the verification, an unlocking process. The method also comprises the holster releasing the handgun based on completion of the unlocking process.

  • Patent number: 11365947
Abstract: A system for improving firearm safety is provided. The system comprises a firearm with a trigger mechanism for firing and a trigger safety member proximate the trigger to prevent accidental firing. The system also comprises a locking assembly associated with the trigger mechanism and safety member comprising a transceiver that receives a message from a remote wireless device. The locking assembly further comprises a motor that activates based on processing of the message received by the transceiver. The locking assembly further comprises an eccentric that executes a first turning motion based on action of the motor.

  • Patent number: 11365946
Abstract: A system for improving firearm safety is provided comprising a firearm comprising a trigger mechanism for discharging the firearm, a trigger safety member to prevent accidental discharging of the firearm, and an electronic housing contained in a pistol grip of the firearm. The housing receives a message from a mobile device, determines that the message contains an instruction associated with an owner of the firearm, and transmits, based on the instruction, a command regarding the trigger safety member. The electronic housing transmits the command along an internal cable to a motor embedded in the trigger mechanism and receives the message via a transceiver component of the electronic housing. The motor, based on the command, turns an eccentric component to one of block and unblock the trigger safety member. The electronic housing further comprises an externally visible LED indicating one of engaged and disengaged status of the eccentric component.

  • Patent number: 10229573
Abstract: An immediate alert notification system via wireless tethered devices is provided. The system comprises a processor, a memory, and an application stored in the memory that when executed on the processor receives a first message from a first mobile device. The system also determines that the first message indicates that a slave device is within range of a first master device associated with the first mobile device. The system also determines that the slave device is not associated with the first master device and is associated with a second master device and determines that the slave device was previously reported as lost. The system also sends a second message to a second mobile device associated with the second master device, the second message advising that the slave device has been located and further providing recovery information for the slave device.

  • Patent number: 7571493
Abstract: A lightweight, armored protective garment for protecting an arm or leg from blast superheated gases, blast overpressure shock, shrapnel, and spall from a explosive device, such as a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) or a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The garment has a ballistic sleeve made of a ballistic fabric, such as an aramid fiber (e.g., KEVLAR®) cloth, that prevents thermal burns from the blast superheated gases, while providing some protection from fragments. Additionally, the garment has two or more rigid armor inserts that cover the upper and lower arm and protect against high-velocity projectiles, shrapnel and spall. The rigid inserts can be made of multiple plies of a carbon/epoxy composite laminate. The combination of 6 layers of KEVLAR® fabric and 28 plies of carbon/epoxy laminate inserts (with the inserts being sandwiched in-between the KEVLAR® layers), can meet the level IIIA fragmentation minimum V50 requirements for the US Interceptor Outer Tactical Vest.
