  • Patent number: 8474290
Abstract: An improved locking handle and power module assembly provides continued ability to open and close a truck cap or tonneau cover from within or without, and presents an enclosed mechanism to prevent obstruction or jamming. A release handle is provided to permit unlatching of a latch mechanism operated by the locking handle without regard to whether the locking handle is locked or not.

  • Publication number: 20120102894
Abstract: A box assembly includes a base defining an interior storage compartment, a lid movable relative to the base to selectively cover the interior storage compartment, a base plate adapted to be fixedly mounted to the lid, a power source disposed along the base plate, a power actuator disposed along the base plate and electrically connected to the power source, a latch mechanism disposed along the base plate and operably connected to the power actuator for movement between a locked position, in which the lid is retained against the base, and an unlocked position, in which the lid is movable relative to the base, and a keyless entry receiver disposed along the base plate and operably coupled to the power actuator, the keyless entry receiver actuating the power actuator to move the latch mechanism from the locked position to the unlocked position in response to a signal from a transmitter.

  • Patent number: 8029029
Abstract: A rotary latch for selectively locking a closure, such as a tonneau cover, is provided with a joystick or toggle release lever. The joystick release lever enables the rotary latch to be installed in any position with respect to a remote handle because the joystick can be pulled in any direction, 360 degrees, to release the rotary latch. The joystick includes a trapped base supporting a spherical portion that is nested in a circular opening in the housing of the latch. The joystick is spring loaded, and is movable about its central axis in any direction, causing the base to pivot against the inside of the housing. The base of the joystick is positioned over a spring-loaded catch locking the rotary latch. As the base of the joystick rotates against the inside of the housing, it depresses the spring-loaded catch, releasing the rotary latch.

  • Publication number: 20110175375
Abstract: A rotary latch for selectively locking a closure, such as a tonneau cover, is provided with a bottom pull release lever. The pivot axis of the release lever is vertically offset relative to the pivot axis of a latch arm so that the latch arm extends in a first direction and the release lever extends generally transverse thereto in a second direction, and the latch arm engages the release lever at a middle portion thereof between the pivot axis and an actuator mount on the end of the release lever. The actuator mount is actuated by pulling substantially linearly in the first direction with minimal changes in the direction of the actuator force acting on the actuator mount.

  • Patent number: 7363786
Abstract: A locking assembly for a truck bed closure includes an internal frame mounting a slider having a vertical portion with a dog-receiving aperture, a disk rotation flange, a manual actuation flange and a motor-actuator flange, and a horizontal portion with a pair of keyhole apertures for receiving the mounting studs. a hollow lock cylinder bushing secured to the mounting plate internally and rotatably receives a shaft and a lock tumbler. Rotation of the shaft by turning an exterior handle unlatches the truck bed closure. The interior end of the tumbler mounts a locking dog. Pivoting of the lock tumbler rotates the locking dog to shift the slider between the locked and unlocked positions. A lock disk fixed to the shaft engages the slider in the locked position, preventing unlatching. An electric actuator can be connected to the slider, enabling shifting of the slider from a wired or wireless remote switch.
