    Abstract: Techniques for using Network Address Translation (NAT), Mobile Internet Protocol (MIP), and/or other techniques in conjunction with Domain Name System (DNS) to anonymize server-side addresses in data communications. Rather than having DNS provide a client device with an IP address of an endpoint device, such as a server, the DNS instead returns a virtual IP (VIP) address that is mapped to the client device and the endpoint device. In this way, IP addresses of servers are obfuscated by a virtual network of VIP addresses. The client device may then communicate data packets to the server using the VIP address as the destination address, and a virtual network service that works in conjunction with DNS can convert the VIP address to the actual IP address of the server using NAT and forward the data packet onto the server.

The system and method described herein may monitor a temperature based on a resistor (i.e. hot wire) near the wick and model the thermal cycle of an e-Cig. The model can be used for controlling the temperature of the c-Cig and preventing burning. The temperature control may dictate optimal conditions for atomization and smoke generation in an e-Cig while avoiding hotspots and burning to the atomizer or cartomizer.

    Abstract: A method for depth mapping includes providing a depth mapping device comprising a projector, which is configured to project a pattern of optical radiation onto a target area over a first field of view about a projection axis, and a camera, which is configured to capture images of the target area within a second field of view, narrower than the first field of view, about a camera axis, which is offset transversely relative to the projection axis. The projector projects the pattern onto first and second planes at first and second distances from the camera, and the camera captures first and second reference images containing first and second parts of the pattern on the first and second planes, respectively. The first and second reference images are combined to produce an extended reference image including both the first and second parts of the pattern.

In some embodiments of the invention, responsive to a request that is sent by a client and that is for dynamic content, a client-proxy hosted in a datacenter of a CDN sends the request to a “forwarder-proxy” hosted in another datacenter of the same CDN. The forwarder-proxy, responsive to the request for dynamic content, forwards the request to an origin server and does not cache the dynamic content. The datacenter selected for the forwarder-proxy is one that is “close” to the origin server in terms of round-trip time (RTT) to improve network performance for requests for dynamic content.
