Abstract: An optical fiber for use in distributed vibration sensing has perturbations along its length. The perturbations may be applied externally to a mode field diameter of the optical fiber. Alternatively, the perturbations may be applied through the use of fusion splicing of fiber lengths that form the optical fiber.

Abstract: A method and system for evaluating performance of software. The method and system includes inserting into the code trace markers where a given function has begun and ended. Inserting additional trace markers where a function is being called and scheduled to be executed later in the same or different threads. Saving the code including the trace markers in the computer database. Running and executing the code with the trace markers to draw paths on the trace recording creating a mapping of the full execution path of each function including its parent functions and all functions that are linked to the parent functions. Reviewing the mapping to determine which functions can be improved.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a context-aware scheduler. In one example embodiment, the context-aware scheduler accesses a stored application context to determine that the stored application context corresponds to a change in application context from a first application context according to which a queue of jobs for execution for an application is currently prioritized, to a second application context. The context-aware scheduler determines a list of attributions comprising assigned priority categories for the second application context and uses the list of attributions for the second application context to re-prioritize the plurality of jobs in the queue based on a job attribution tag for each job in the queue. The context-aware scheduler sets a first job in the re-prioritized queue as the next job for execution for the application.

Abstract: The current invention is directed to an electronic system and a method for open transparency and publishing of financial account transaction data, such as transactions by a charity or other entity, where transparency is encouraged. The system is comprised of a platform having a data repository for assembling and storing the account data such that it is freely accessible by users who desire to review, analyze, comment on, or otherwise inspect the substance of the transaction. In a method of the invention, the users access the financial account transaction data and interact the platform by means of user devices to perform a variety of activities including commenting on the data, reading the data, sharing the data, and other functions consistent with transparency of the financial account transaction data.

Abstract: Spaces between words in a web document may be identified and replaced with at least one random character in order to deter users from copying the web document. Random characters may also be inserted within words in the web document. The random characters are invisible when the user views the web document through a browser but visible when the user attempts to select, copy, or print the web document. The random characters may be of the same color as the background color of the web document. To further deter the user, the mouse, menu, and/or keyboard functions on the user computer may be disabled. To prevent the user from viewing the source code of the web document, the source code may also be encrypted. A small tracking image having a unique identification number may be added to the web document to allow an owner of the web document to trace unauthorized use of the web document on another web site.
