  • Publication number: 20030212310
Abstract: Systems and methods for observing and recording retinal irregularities are disclosed. A method according to the invention includes illuminating a viewing area with a steady light, illuminating the viewing area with a flash pattern, and enabling a user to observe, by looking at the illuminated viewing area, a visual representation of the existence of a retinal irregularity. The viewing area is illuminated with the steady light and flash pattern such that the user can identify in the viewing area a visual abnormality that is indicative of the retinal irregularity. The user can provide a description of the visual representation, which can be forwarded to a caregiver for analysis.

  • Patent number: 6543663
Abstract: An automatic fastening scheduler apparatus is described for scheduling the placement of fasteners such as nails, staples or screws for joining materials along a preselected path on the material. The apparatus spaces the fasteners by sequentially operating the safety mechanism of a standard power fastener at a rate determined by the distance the apparatus is rolled along the surface of the material. The apparatus does not modify the operation of the safety mechanism of the power fastener and the power fastener can be easily removed from the apparatus for manual operation. The apparatus provides for varying the spacing between adjacent fasteners and can be operated from either an upright or a crouched position.

  • Patent number: 5974777
Abstract: A rotatable yarn cooling drum for cooling yarn plugs emanating from two texturizers has a circumferential perforated shell about which the yarn plugs are wound and cooled. A deflector in the form of a finger is spaced radially from the surface of the shell and laterally positioned between the ends of the shell. A yarn guide radially spaced from the drum has two yarn guide grooves for guiding the yarn plugs onto the shell at one side of the deflector and one lateral end of the shell. The yarn plugs may thus enter onto the shell at one lateral end and exit at the other lateral end after making more than a complete turn on the drum. The guide slots are illustrated as formed in a block to which the finger is attached.
