Patent number: 9514613Abstract: An apparatus and method for a secondary game of a wagering gaming system, and particularly the increase of an award in the secondary game by the value of different multipliers associated with different amounts wagered in a primary game. A secondary game provides a total award to a player based on the multiplier associated with the wagered amount in the primary game by applying the multiplier to the amount of the award earned by the player in the secondary game. A particular wagerable amount may be associated with a multiplier that is predetermined, or randomly selected from a group of predefined multipliers, or selected from a group based on a probability. The range of possible combinations of wagerable amounts and multipliers are displayed to the player in the base game to provide an incentive to maximize the wager.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2015Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Assignee: IGTInventors: David M. Oles, Aaron T. Jones

Patent number: 7682247Abstract: A gaming machine's payout is controlled by payout data. In one embodiment the payout data is written in a high level format, such as in a format that is readable by an individual to allow the identification of specific payout parameters in the payout data. In one embodiment the payout data is stored on mass media or removable media located in the gaming machine that makes the payout data easily accessible and less expensive than media used in the prior art. As a result, the payout data may be efficiently modified, updated, or distributed.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2006Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: IGTInventors: Dwayne R. Nelson, David M. Oles, Steven G. LeMay, Bayard Webb

Patent number: 7585219Abstract: A gaming device including a matrix having a plurality of positions defining at least one row and at least one column. The matrix includes a plurality of independently operable symbol generators where each of the positions of the matrix includes at least one of the independently operable symbol generators. Each of the symbol generators include a plurality of symbols. The gaming device enables the player to purchase or activate one or more of the symbols based on a wager made by the player. After the player makes a wager the gaming device activates the designated symbols based on the wager made by the player. The gaming device then causes the symbol generators to each generate symbols in the game. The gaming device evaluates the purchased or activatable symbols generated by the symbol generators in the matrix and provides an award to the player for any winning symbol combinations including the purchased or activated symbols displayed by the symbol generators in the matrix.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2005Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: IGTInventors: Dov L. Randall, David M. Oles

Patent number: 5218302Abstract: An interface for coupling an engine analyzer to an engine having a distributorless ignition system includes a pair of pickup clamps for coupling signals from respective groups of spark plug wires. A logic cell array is supplied with spark plug secondary voltage polarity and pattern information, corresponding to an engine under test from a ROM. The technician is instructed as to which wires to place in each clamp. A semiconductor input switch is controlled by the logic cell array to sort the secondary voltages from the pickup clamps according to polarity. The real and the wasted sparks are then determined based upon the magnitude of the signals from the input switch. The apparatus permits a "rapid test" (of secondary voltages only) by developing a pseudo primary clock from the pickup clamp signals. A CPU in the interface is controllable by an external computer or by an operator keypad.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1991Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: Sun Electric CorporationInventors: Thomas D. Loewe, David M. Oles
