  • Patent number: 6148852
Abstract: A valve assembly that is composed of simple parts is described that is used to provide a sump pit water control device that operates due to the level of water within the sump and not by electricity. This valve assembly includes an adapter in the form of a tee-pipe that is capped at one end and attached at the other end to a drain tile pipe entering the sump. The third and remaining end of the tee-pipe is open but has a valve disposed therein that is operable between two positions. A float member is attached to the valve member by way of a cable so that as the water level rises in the sump, the valve member is drawn closed, and when the water level is at a normal or low level, the valve member is biased into an open position by a spring.
