Abstract: Systems, methods, client devices, and non-transitory computer-readable media are disclosed for enabling video calls which facilitate shared augmented reality (AR) background environments. In particular, the disclosed systems can establish a video call between client devices. In addition, the disclosed systems can enable client devices to segment one or more participants captured via videos on the client devices from captured backgrounds. Moreover, the disclosed systems can enable the client devices to render, in place of the segmented backgrounds, AR background environments to place captured videos of the one or more participants within a shared AR background space to create the perception that the participants of the video call are present in the same location (or setting).

Abstract: Techniques are described that provide a gallery of media files via a messaging application. The messaging application may include one or more messaging threads between a user and one or more other users. The user may share a media file with another user via a message associated with a message thread. The media files may include photographs, videos, links, screenshots, documents, graphic interchange format (GIF) images, and other media content shared between a user and one or more other users. A communication platform may determine that the message includes a media file and may associate the media file with media galleries associated with the user and the other user. The media galleries may enable both users to easily access shared media content and to quickly identify a particular media files of interest.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for price protection associated with one or more items purchased. A registered item, which comprises an item purchased by a buyer from a seller, is monitored electronically to obtain information associated with the item, including an item's current purchase price. If it is determined from electronically monitoring the status of the item that the buyer is eligible for a refund under a price protection policy covering the item purchased, the buyer is notified.
