  • Publication number: 20050103252
Abstract: A seabed anchor (20) is fixed to and deployable from an ROV (10) for positively anchoring the ROV (10) to the seabed (100). The seabed anchor (20) comprises three nested telescoping tubes (26, 28, & 30). The upper end of the outermost tube (26) is fixed to the ROV (10). A rotary drill bit (38) is carried on the output shaft of a motor (34) that is mounted on the lower end of the innermost tube (30). The nested assembly of three telescopic tubes (26, 28, 30) can be controllably extended and retracted by controlled operation of a hydraulic ram or other linear actuator coupled between the outer tube (26) and the inner tube (30). Each of the tubes (26, 28 & 30) carries a respective one or two pairs of inflatable packets (40, 42, & 44) that are normally uninflated and lie quiescent within respective recesses in the sides of the tubes where the packers do not interfere with telescopic relative movements of the tubes.

  • Publication number: 20040265328
Abstract: The invention provides methods of screening commensal and pathogenic bacteria for previously unidentified vaccine antigens, based upon identifying polypeptide antigens that bind to sera raised against commensal bacterial proteins. Also provided are vaccine compositions and methods of preparing vaccine compositions comprising the antigens identified by the screening methods. Antigens and uses thereof are also described.

  • Publication number: 20040226751
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a drilling with casing includes therewith a drill shoe configured for later drilling through thereof in situ, with cutters retainable thereon in response to the forces encountered during borehole drilling, yet moveable from the envelope through which the later drill shoe will pass when cutting through the in situ drill shoe. The drill shoe includes one or more profiles thereon, into which blades carrying the formation drilling cutters are disposed. The profiles include at least one projection thereon, which is received within a mating slot in the blades. The blades also may be configured to have opposed sections which are configured with respect to one another to have an included angle of less than ninety degrees.

  • Publication number: 20030186848
Abstract: Neisserial iron uptake proteins including transferrin binding protein A (TbpA) and B (TbpB) in both full length form and as immunogenic fragments are made recombinantly. A non-neisserial cell expresses a TbpA which is extracted from the cell under mild conditions and retains substantially the antigenicity of native TbpA on its surface. TbpB is also made recombinantly and both TbpA and TbpB are included in vaccine compositions.

  • Patent number: 6457246
Abstract: A survey apparatus which can be used in the underground mining industry comprises a mounting means (11) adapted to be mounted in a fixed surface (such as a tunnel wall) and an alignement means (130, 101) to releasably engage with the mounting means (11), wherein the alignement means (130, 101) is capable of operating only when the alignement means (130, 101) is engaged with the mounting means (11). The mounting means (11) is preferably a sleeve member (11) insertable in a wall. The alignement means (130, 101) preferably has a laser module (102) and a suitable compartment for accomodating a battery (151). The mounting means (11), which is a set aligned in the fixed surface, together with the factory-set alignement means (130, 101) is used for the purpose of setting out and alignements. When the cylindrical shaft (133) is inserted into the sleeve member (11), a rod (170), permanently in contact with spring (154) presses against the screw (158) and makes an electrical connection.
