  • Publication number: 20110069150
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for stereoscopic image encoding and decoding are described. Left and right eye images are encoded following an entropy reduction operation being applied to one of the eye images when there is a difference between the left and right images of an image pair. Information about regions of negative parallax within the entropy reduced image of an image pair is encoded along with the images. Upon decoding a sharpening filter is applied to the image in an image pair which was subjected to the entropy reduction operation. In addition edge enhancement filtering is performed on the regions of the recovered entropy reduced image which are identified in the encoded image data as regions of negative parallax. Interleaving of left and right eye images at the input of the encoder combined with entropy reduction allows for efficient encoding, storage, and transmission of 3D images.

  • Patent number: 7841008
Abstract: A determination is made as to whether there is a correlation between a user's security risk profile and a personalized threat profile of an actual or spreading threat. If there is a correlation, a personalized reactive alert is issued in the case of an actual threat. The personalized reactive alert informs the user of specific suspected data that may have been compromised by the threat and the specific non-computer related action that the user should take. Further, if there is a correlation, a personalized proactive alert is issued and/or personalized proactive protective action taken in the case of a spreading threat. The personalized proactive alert informs the user of the spreading threat that the user and/or the user's host computer system is particularly susceptible to. Further, the personalized proactive protective action taken provides automated risk mitigation.

  • Publication number: 20100027565
Abstract: System and method for a full featured network communications protocol that is both memory and processor efficient. A preferred embodiment comprises a method for transmitting information between electronic devices, the method comprising creating a connection between a pair of electronic devices, sending a packet between the pair, acknowledging a receipt of the packet by a receiver of the packet, and dissolving the connection when it is no longer needed. The creating of the connection comprises assigning a port number to the connection at an initiating electronic device and then transmitting a connection request containing the port number to a servicing electronic device. After the transmitting, the creating further comprises receiving a second port number to the connection from the servicing electronic device.
