Publication number: 20240176822Abstract: A database system facilitates secure data sharing by implementing projection constraints within a query processing framework. Upon receiving a query directed to a shared dataset, the system, utilizing hardware processors, identifies a subset of data within the dataset that is subject to a projection constraint policy. The applicability of the projection constraint is determined based on the context of the query, which is derived from a data sharing agreement. The system processes the query by selectively restricting the projection of data values from constrained columns, while allowing specific operations to be performed on the data. The output generated in response to the query is compliant with the projection constraint policy, providing derived data based on the allowed operations without revealing the actual data values. This ensures the confidentiality of sensitive information while enabling collaborative data analysis and sharing among various users of the database system.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2024Publication date: May 30, 2024Inventors: Khalid Zaman Bijon, Thierry Cruanes, Simon Holm Jensen, Allison Waingold Lee, Daniel N. Patent number: 11995126Abstract: A system for enforcing projection constraints on data values stored in specified variables of a shared dataset of a cloud data platform. A request is received from a first account of the cloud data platform that identifies a first operation to be performed on the shared dataset. A first set of data, including data accessed from a first variable, is accessed from the shared dataset to use in performing the first operation. A projection constraint policy attached to the first variable of the shared dataset is determined, and the projection constraint policy is further determined to be enforced based on the request. Based on the first set of data and the first operation, an output to the first request is generated.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2023Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: Snowflake Inc.Inventors: Khalid Zaman Bijon, Thierry Cruanes, Simon Holm Jensen, Allison Waingold Lee, Daniel N. Patent number: 11928157Abstract: A constraint system enforces projection constraints on data values stored in specified columns of a shared dataset when queries are received by a database system. A projection constraint identifies that the data in a column may be restricted from being projected (e.g., presented, read, outputted) in an output to a received query, while allowing specified operations to be performed on the data and a corresponding output to be provided. For example, the projection constraint may indicate a context for a query that triggers the constraint, such as based on the user that submitted the query. Enforcing projection constraints on queries received at the database system allows for data to be shared and used anonymously by entities to perform various operations without the need to tokenize the data.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2022Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: Snowflake Inc.Inventors: Khalid Zaman Bijon, Thierry Cruanes, Simon Holm Jensen, Allison Waingold Lee, Daniel N. Patent number: 4586355Abstract: A lock cylinder cover includes an escutcheon having a lock cylinder opening and a pivotal cover biased to cover the lock cylinder. A spring detent secured to the underside of the escutcheon has a stop surface which bears on the underside of the cover until opening movement permits the detent to spring out and engage a shoulder of the cover to hold the cover open. A blocking lever pivotally mounted on the underside of the escutcheon is spring biased to engage the detent. The detent has a cam surface poised in the path of unlocking rotation of the key so that the key cams the detent inwardly to release the stop surface from the cover so that the cover is spring biased to engage the key and then key removal permits the cover to close. The inward movement of the detent permits the lever to pivot into blocking engagement with the detent to retain the axially inward position in which the stop surface is withdrawn from engaging the cover.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1985Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: David N. Patent number: 4386745Abstract: A belt reel journaled on the retractor frame carries a ratchet plate having teeth including a front face and a back face. A pawl mounted on the frame is movable from a normal disengaged position to a position engaging either the unwinding facing front side of a tooth or engaging with the winding facing side of a tooth. A normally stationary clutch member is connected to the pawl by a cam and is selectively rotated in response to a sensed condition so that the cam moves the pawl to engage the unwinding facing side of a tooth to lock the reel against belt unwinding rotation. A manual operating handle is provided to rotate the clutch member independent of occurrence of the sensed condition so that the pawl is moved into engagement with the winding face side of a ratchet tooth to block belt winding reel rotation by a reel windup spring and hold the belt at a tension free slackened length about the seat occupant.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1981Date of Patent: June 7, 1983Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Chimanbhai M.
