  • Patent number: 7043873
Abstract: A bait station for crawling insects includes a base and a cover fastened to the base. The base includes a bait cup bisected by a divider wall so that different baits may be offered to the insects. The cover has a roof that is spaced above and spans over the bait cup so that insects may crawl through doorways formed in the cover to access the bait in the bait cup. A support rib extends downwardly from the roof to engage the bait cup and divider wall to not only provide crush resistance and support for the roof but also to provide a bait retention feature. The support rib may also be configured to serve as a reservoir for water or other insect attractant.

  • Patent number: 6796082
Abstract: A bait station for offering a bait to a target insect comprising an open top base, a cap enclosing the open top base and a spike extending downwardly from the base. The base includes a floor, an outer wall that extends upwardly from the floor to an outer rim, and an inner wall that extends upwardly from the floor to an inner rim. The inner wall is spaced inwardly from the outer wall and defines a central bait well for containing insect bait. The base further includes an insect climbable tapered wall extending downwardly and outwardly from the inner wall that cooperates with the outer wall to define a moat that surrounds the bait well, and at least one doorway formed in the outer wall of a size sufficient to permit a target insect ingress to an egress from the bait well.

  • Patent number: 5489432
Abstract: The subject invention concerns a novel microbe and genes encoding novel toxin proteins with activity against cockroaches. Cockroaches are common house pests, and they create problems in hospitals, the food industry and in agriculture. The novel Bacillus thuringiensis microbe of the invention is referred to as B.t. PS185L8. The subject invention also concerns the use of B.t. PS201T6 to control cockroaches. A truncated form of a toxin obtained from PS201T6 having particular activity to cockroaches is also claimed for use in controlling the pest. The spores or crystals of the two microbes, or mutants thereof, are useful to control cockroaches in various environments. The genes of the invention can be used to transform various hosts wherein the novel toxic proteins can be expressed.
