  • Patent number: 10337646
Abstract: Adjustable apparatuses for improved lockout-tag out safety. The apparatus includes anchor, drive and securing portions that allow the apparatus to sit within a valve casing and block access to a valve. The anchor portion is selectively expandable via the drive portion to grip opposing walls of the casing, thereby holding the lockout apparatus in place. The securing portion provides selective access, such as through a lockable latch, to the drive member. When the securing portion is in a closed state, the drive member is inaccessible and the anchor portion cannot be adjusted. Anchor portions can include scissor jacks or other types of pneumatic or hydraulic devices. The shape and size of the securing portion, such as a six-inch diameter disk or plate, can further allow the lockout apparatus to rest on a top portion of the casing when the anchor portion is in a contracted state.

  • Patent number: 9675055
Abstract: Tackle or artificial fly devices for improved fishing experience. The tackle device includes head and tail portions formed of a single, continuous material and allows one to tie flies thereon without fixing a certain hook type and/or size directly to the device. A lumen extends the device length and enables the tackle device to slide freely along a fishing line and more easily release from junction tubing and/or a fishing hook when a fish strikes. The tackle device can consist of a plastic, polycarbonate or other rigid polymer formed via injection molding. Device head portions can include cylindrical, dome as well as segmented shapes; various sizes; and one or more bills, cavities and/or carve-outs to create desired motion of the device while fishing. Incorporating draft into the tail portion further facilitates separation from junction tubing when hooking a fish, thereby prolonging the useful life of the tackle device.

  • Patent number: 8105018
Abstract: An air turbine starter for starting an engine includes a housing, and a flow path communicating a flow of gas therethrough; a turbine member; a clutch; and a decoupler device at least partially housed within the output member of the clutch. The decoupler device includes a first shaft portion coupled to and rotating with the output member and a second shaft portion coupled to and rotating with the engine. The first and second shaft portions are axially aligned and configured to engage each another for rotation in a first direction and to separate from each other in a second direction to decouple the output member of the clutch from the engine. The starter further includes a bearing between the inner surface of the output member and the second shaft portion for reducing friction between the second shaft portion and the inner surface of the output member when the first and second shaft portions are decoupled.

  • Patent number: 5406713
Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining a scientific or measuring instrument or the like in a level horizontal plane. The apparatus comprises an inclinometer comprising a support housing and a plumb member freely suspended within the support housing. The plumb member has an exterior surface provided with first sensing means and the support housing has an interior surface provided with second sensing means cooperative with the first sensing means in determining simply variation of the support housing from an exact upright position. Automatic adjustment means are also provided which are responsive to the first and second sensing means for adjusting the support housing to maintain an upright positioning of the support housing and the instrument attached thereto.
