  • Patent number: 5546291
Abstract: A conversion kit assembly for use with a light bulb such as a compact fluorescent bulb provides the light bulb with the appearance of a different type of bulb as well as the ability to adjust the illumination by varying the position of the conversion kit assembly on the light bulb. The conversion kit assembly includes a collar having a hollow interior for receiving the light bulb and resilient prongs for engaging the light bulb to maintain the collar in a desired mounted position on the light bulb. The resilient prongs can comprise wire loops formed at the opposite ends of a length of wire mounted within the collar, or leaf springs mounted within the hollow interior of the collar. A threaded base of the collar releasably receives the threaded base of a glass envelope having a hollow interior for receiving a portion of the light bulb mounted within the collar.
