  • Patent number: 9761065
Abstract: A vehicle includes a regenerative braking system, which may include an electric machine, configured to provide regenerative braking torque to vehicle traction wheels. The vehicle further includes at least one controller configured to provide indicia for display to indicate performance of the regenerative braking system. The indicia represent a comparison of a braking profile that is recorded during a deceleration event and a calculated braking profile that is based on a detected forward object. In various embodiments, the indicia may include a numerical or letter grade representative of a similarity between the recorded braking profile and the calculated braking profile and/or a visual representation of the comparison of the recorded braking profile and the calculated braking profile.

  • Patent number: 9475487
Abstract: A vehicle includes an internal combustion engine, a driver interface having a first driver-activated selector, and a controller. The controller selectively operates the engine according to a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode the engine runs continuously. In the second mode the engine is turned off in response to a first set of operating conditions and turned on in response to a second set of operating conditions. The controller further, in response to a driver activation of the first selector, controls the engine according to the first mode and, in response to an anticipated end of a first vehicle acceleration event subsequent the driver activation of the first selector, controls the engine according to the second mode.

  • Publication number: 20160144721
Abstract: A vehicle includes traction wheels, an electric machine configured to provide regenerative braking torque to the traction wheels, wheel brakes configured to provide friction braking torque to the traction wheels, and at least one power source configured to provide drive torque to the traction wheels. The vehicle additionally includes, a sensor configured to detect a forward object, and at least one controller. The controller is configured to control the power source, wheel brakes, and electric machine according to an adaptive cruise control (ACC) algorithm. The ACC algorithm is configured to command the electric machine to provide regenerative braking torque without application of the wheel brakes in response to a detected forward object and a maximum regeneration braking distance. The maximum regeneration braking distance is calculated based on a powertrain regenerative braking limit and a distance to the forward object.

  • Publication number: 20150095266
Abstract: A vehicle operational cost display system includes a user interface adapted for entry of cost of fuel for operation of a vehicle; a central processing unit interfacing with the user interface, the central processing unit having a calculator function adapted to calculate total operational cost of the vehicle based on the cost of fuel for operation of the vehicle and distance traveled; and a display interfacing with the central processing unit, the display adapted to display the total operational cost of the vehicle. A vehicle operational cost display method is also disclosed.
