Abstract: At least one example embodiment relates to a chewing gum. In at least one example embodiment, the chewing gum comprises a gum base polymer and oil. The gum base polymer includes polyvinyl acetate (PVA) in an amount ranging from 35 weight percent to 55 weight percent of the chewing gum. The oil is present in an amount greater than 8 weight percent of the chewing gum. The oil includes a triglyceride, triacetin, and nicotine or a nicotine derivative. The triglyceride is present in an amount greater than or equal to 5 weight percent of the chewing gum. At least one example embodiment relates to a method of preparing a controlled-release nicotine chewing gum.

The delivery conduit has an outlet and a suitable interface, such as a diffuser, is connected to the outlet. The interface can be positioned near or within an open surgical cavity of a patient to supply the humidified gas to the cavity. The system also includes a pressure relief arrangement that operates to relieve pressure from the system above a normal operating pressure. The pressure relief arrangement can be located in a non-sterile portion of the system, such as upstream from the humidifier, for example.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compositions for supplementing dietary fiber intake through the administration of new psyllium-containing chocolate food products. The compositions can be used to supplement dietary fiber intake and promote dietary regulation and wellness management. The chocolate composition comprising particular ratios of chocolate, psyllium, and lipids, and the emulsion-forming formulation methods disclosed herein surprisingly reduce the unpleasant gelling in the mouth/throat during mastication/swallowing that is frequently associated with psyllium-containing products. The protective capabilities of the ingredients of the present compositions provide for and, accordingly, allow for, suitable manufacturing and improved organoleptic properties which promote long-term adoption and consistent use by subjects.
