  • Patent number: 10731052
Abstract: A system for forming an elastomeric composition for application to a substrate includes an isocyanate component and an isocyanate-reactive component. The isocyanate component includes a polymeric polyisocyanate and optionally an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer. The isocyanate-reactive component is reactive with the isocyanate component and includes a polyol component and a polyetheramine. The polyol component is a mixture of (a) a hydrophobic polyol; (b) a polyether polyol different than the hydrophobic polyol and having a weight average molecular weight greater than 500 g/mol; and (c) a polyaminopolyol. The elastomeric composition is formed as the reaction product of the isocyanate component and the isocyanate-reactive component and may be applied as an elastomeric coating layer on a substrate such as a steel pipe. The steel pipe having the applied elastomeric coating layer satisfies the standard for use in the water supply industry as set forth in AWWA C222.

  • Patent number: 8501062
Abstract: A composite includes a first preform and a second preform spaced from and in overlying relationship to the first preform. The second preform defines at least one first opening extending therethrough along an axis transverse to the first preform. A first surface layer is disposed adjacent to the second preform and on an opposite side of the second preform from the first preform. A polymeric composition including the reaction product of an isocyanate component and an isocyanate-reactive component is disposed between the first preform and the second preform. The polymeric composition adheres the first surface layer to the second preform through the at least one first opening. The surface layer is adhered to the second preform during molding of the composite article and in the absence of additional adhesive, thereby reducing production time and cost of the composite article.

  • Patent number: 8302280
Abstract: An appliance includes a housing having top and bottom panels disposed opposite each other and a plurality of walls connected to the top and bottom panels. The top and bottom panels and the plurality of walls define a cavity of the appliance. The housing also has an outermost surface about which a polyurethane foam is disposed. The polyurethane foam reduces noise and vibrations emitted from the appliance during use and has a density of from 20 to 50 pounds per cubic foot (pcf). The polyurethane foam also has a damping factor of at least 0.2 measured at a temperature of from 40° C. to 60° C. Furthermore, the polyurethane foam has a k-factor of less than 2.0 btu-in/hr-ft2-° F. which reduces an amount of energy required to operate the appliance. The appliance is formed by applying the polyurethane foam to at least one of the top panel, bottom panel, and plurality of walls.

  • Patent number: 7535129
Abstract: An automatic transfer switch includes first and second magnetically latched relays that respectively connect first and second voltage sources to a critical load. The first and second relays are magnetically latched in their respective opened or closed positions by a permanent magnet so that no holding current is supplied to the relays after switching is completed. As such, no holding current is required for either relay in the non-transferred or the transferred state of the automatic transfer switch, which reduces heat generated by the relays which can lead to relay failure. A switching method uses the automatic transfer switch to switch voltage sources without requiring relay holding currents in either the non-transferred or transferred state. A method of reducing contact bounce is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6576046
Abstract: A modular two-stage electrostatic precipitator for extracting airborne particles includes individual ionizer/collector cell modules having integrated power supplies and diagnostic systems. The cell modules are adapted to be joined blindly to one another in end-to-end nested relation through nestable end plates and in a series circuit utilizing floating electrical connectors. The module end plates provide self-correction in misalignment during a blind connection and provide sealed end plate cavities for the power supply and electrical connections. The diagnostic system provides detection for any open system circuit and/or short circuit condition and allows for trouble shooting on an individual cell module basis.
