  • Patent number: 9710420
Abstract: A link layer of a serial protocol is modified to perform early primitive detection. An early primitive detector unit compares an undecoded bit sequence to that corresponding to a particular primitive. A primitive notification is generated in response to identifying a match. Latency is reduced compared with performing link layer decoding and then identifying primitives.

  • Patent number: 9652164
Abstract: Mass storage devices and methods of operating thereof adapted for use with a host and for storing data thereof includes at least one non-volatile memory for storing the data, at least one volatile memory, a memory controller configured for reading and writing the data and metadata to and from the non-volatile memory and the volatile memory, and an auxiliary power supply, wherein the memory controller locates the data on the non-volatile memory with the metadata. When processing a write command that requires all data to be written to the non-volatile memory before confirmation is returned to the host computer system that the write command has succeeded, the mass storage device is configured to write the data to the non-volatile memory, write the metadata to the volatile memory, and once the both data and metadata are written, return a completion status of the write command to the host computer system.

Abstract: Methods and SATA devices having more than one operating state suitable for providing efficient command and data transfers over a SATA bus. A SATA device is provided for communicating with a host. The host sends commands to the SATA device and the SATA device sends data to the host in response to the commands being received by the SATA device. The SATA device has a queue of commands received from the host. The SATA device is configured to operate in a first operating state wherein the commands are received by the SATA device and the data are not sent to the host, and a second operating state wherein the commands are received by the SATA device and the data are sent to the host wherein data being sent to the host has priority over receiving commands by the SATA device.

  • Publication number: 20160127480
Abstract: Methods and systems for data routing management are disclosed. A method can comprise a communication processing system receiving a request directed to an address. The communication processing system can determine performance capabilities of a first logical grouping of computing devices, wherein the first logical grouping of computing devices share the address. The communication processing system can determine whether at least one computing device of the first logical grouping of computing devices can receive the request. If at least one computing device of the first logical grouping of computing devices can receive the request, the request can be transmitted to the at least one computing device of the first logical grouping of computing devices. If at least one computing device of the first logical grouping of computing devices cannot receive the request, the request can be transmitted to a second logical grouping of computing devices that share the address.

  • Patent number: 9304214
Abstract: A tool having a neutron source, a gamma ray detector, and a photomultiplier tube is provided. The gamma ray detector and the photomultiplier tube are at least partially surrounded by a layer of boron. The tool is used to make measurements, and the number of prompt gamma rays emitted by the boron is determined from the measurements. The number of neutrons detected may be inferred using the determined number of prompt gamma rays. The tool may also have a layer of neutron absorbing material different from boron or a layer of heavy metal at least partially surrounding the boron. The tool may be a logging tool used to delineate a porous formation and to determine its porosity. The tool may have a plurality of gamma ray detector/photomultiplier tube pairs and those pairs may be used to determine a formation hydrogen index and/or a borehole hydrogen index.

  • Patent number: 9268056
Abstract: A method for pulsed neutron well logging of a subsurface formation, includes irradiating the formation with a plurality of bursts of neutrons of a group of selected durations; detecting gamma rays resulting from interaction of the neutrons during a group of selected time gates which contains at least some early and late gamma ray counts. The gamma rays are detected at at least two axially spaced apart locations from a position of the irradiating. A weighted sum of the numbers of gamma rays detected in each of the time gates is calculated. A ratio of the weighted sum of detected gamma rays at a first axial spacing to the weighted sum at a second axial spacing is determined. The ratio is used to determine a hydrogen index of the subsurface formation.

  • Publication number: 20150356033
Abstract: A solid state drive (SSD) storage system includes a memory controller, host interface, memory channels and solid state memories as storage elements. The completion status of sub-commands of individual read commands is monitored and used to determine an optimal selection for returning data for individual read commands. The completion of a read command may be dependent on the completion of multiple individual memory accesses at various times. The queueing of multiple read commands which may proceed in parallel or out of order causes interleaving of multiple memory accesses from different commands to individual memories. A system and method is disclosed which enables the selection, firstly of completed read commands, independent of the order they were queued and, secondly, of partially completed read commands which are most likely to complete with the least interruption or delay, for data transfer, which in turn improves the efficiency of the data transfer interface.

  • Patent number: 8681479
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are described for a pre-wired and pre-engineered integrated platform for power supply and distribution that is pre-assembled, scalable, and modular. The skeletal framework of the integrated platform acts as an equipment support structure as well as a cable routing support system. A set of cables having wiring is routed along the skeletal framework of the integrated platform and goes to two or more cabinet enclosures mounted onto the skeletal framework. The skeletal framework acts as a National Electric Code approved raceway system to support and route the set of cables to the electrical equipment in the mounted cabinet enclosures. The integrated platform supports the weight of the one or more cabinet enclosures mounted onto the skeletal framework.

  • Publication number: 20140005945
Abstract: Disclosed is a model-independent method for accurate prediction of formation and borehole properties from neutron capture cross section measurements. A mapping function is constructed which maps the input measurements to the properties of interest. The mapping function is a linear combination of Gauss radial basis functions. The expansion coefficients and widths of the Gaussian functions are determined uniquely using a database populated with representative samples. For a sample not included in the original database, the desired properties can be estimated from the mapping function using the measurements made on the unknown sample.

  • Patent number: 8591296
Abstract: Mollusc processing apparatus and related methods are disclosed. Molluscs are held in holders by one of their shells, illustratively the bottom shells, and are moved between a series of processing stations. At a shell cut station, an opening is cut into one or both of the shells of each mollusc. The next processing station includes a cutting blade to cut the adductor muscle and viscera of each mollusc away from its non-held shell, illustratively the top shell, and a shell detach mechanism to detach the non-held shell from the held shell. One or multiple air blasts are directed toward the viscera to loosen it from the held shell, and at a vacuum station the loosened viscera is pulled from the held shell. A second muscle cut station includes another cutting blade to cut the adductor muscle from the held shell.

  • Patent number: 8554976
Abstract: A method for processing an incoming command destined for a target is provided, comprising: determining if the incoming command is a data command or a management command; forwarding the incoming command to a storage management component of the target when the incoming command is a management command; when the incoming command is a data command: determining if a disk command queue on the target is full; sending the incoming command to the disk command queue when the disk command queue is not full; when the disk command queue is full: starting a timer, the timer having a predetermined length; sending the incoming command to the disk command queue when the disk command queue becomes not full prior to the expiration of the timer; and sending a rejection of the incoming command to the host only if, upon expiration of the timer, if the disk command queue is still full.

  • Publication number: 20130206972
Abstract: A method is provided to detect neutrons using a boron-shielded gamma-ray detector, which will detect the 0.48-MeV prompt gamma ray due to the 10B (n,?)7Li reaction. The gamma ray detector can be a proportional gas counter, a scintillation based detector, or a semiconductor detector. Monoenergetic prompt gammas will produce a sharp peak in the pulse height spectrum of a gamma-ray spectroscopy detector. By surrounding a gamma detector with a layer containing 10B, we can measure the gamma signal and neutron signal at the same time and at the same physical location in an instrument. The approach can be used to measure neutron porosity simultaneous with gamma-ray counting or spectroscopy at the same location as long as the 0.48-keV gamma-ray from the neutron reaction does not interfere with the gamma-ray measurement.
