  • Patent number: 11411514
Abstract: A system for control of a torque developed by an electric machine, based on a rotary position of a rotary component. The rotation of the rotary component is dependent on a rotation of a rotary shaft of the electric machine. The system utilizes a rotary position sensor to detect specific positions of the rotary component and allows altering the torque of the electric machine based on the specific rotary positions. The system allows altering the torque when a specific gear tooth of a downstream or upstream gear is in a contact position with another meshing component. The electric machine may be configured to operate as an electric motor driving a gearbox or an electric generator driven by a gearbox.

  • Patent number: 11319880
Abstract: The disclosure describes a system that includes an engine having a shaft that rotates around an axis of rotation, an engine controller configured to control the engine, an electric machine mechanically coupled to the shaft of the engine, and an electrical controller. The engine controller is configured to control the engine using control techniques configured for a mechanical device having a target moment of inertia around the axis of rotation. The electric machine has an actual moment of inertia around the axis of rotation that is different from the target moment of inertia. To supplement control of the engine due to the difference in moments of inertia, the electrical controller is configured to receive a rotational speed of the shaft, determine a torque for the shaft based on the speed of the shaft, and control the electric machine to apply the torque to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 11121542
Abstract: A control unit of an electrical system is described. The control unit causes some of the switches in a power converter of the electrical system to not be shut down and not conducting upon detection of a fault current caused by a line-to-line fault. Instead, the control unit causes at least one of the switches to be switched-on and conducting to allow the some of the fault current to flow through the at least one switch, before activating a protection device that creates an open circuit and breaks the fault.
