  • Publication number: 20150055648
Abstract: A call request is sent to establish a telephony session over an Internet Protocol (IP) network between an originating terminal and a destination device. A message responsive to the call request is received from a node connected to the IP network. In response to receiving the message, local generation of a comfort indicator at the 5 originating terminal is performed.

  • Publication number: 20140314101
Abstract: To provide expedited ringback at an originating terminal, a call request is sent from the originating terminal to a destination device over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. Local resource reservation is performed by the originating terminal after sending the call request. A first message is received by the originating terminal prior to the originating terminal sending a second message indicating that local resource reservation has been performed, the first message for indicating that alerting is being performed at the destination device. In response to receiving the first message and determining that the local resource reservation has been performed, a ringback indicator is generated by the originating terminal.

  • Publication number: 20020073329
Abstract: A communications system includes a number of network devices that are coupled to a data network. Each of the network devices are associated with corresponding asset identifiers. A network server stores an asset tracking table that stores asset identifiers of network devices and associated information identifying users of the network devices. A node can send a request to the network server for user identifying information based on an asset identifier to enable the identification of the user that is currently assigned the network device.

  • Patent number: 4631641
Abstract: An electrically conductive enclosure, consisting of side, top, and bottom members, extends between a ground conductor on a backpanel and electrically conductive faceplates at front edges of circuit boards inserted into connectors on the backpanel and guided by channels in the top and bottom members, thereby forming an EMI-screened arrangement. To provide effective EMI screening, resilient electrically conductive strips are provided between the faceplates and the enclosure, and adjacent faceplates are electrically interconnected. In order to avoid excessive lateral forces on the faceplates, the interconnections therebetween are provided by electrically conductive clips provided in and projecting from a slot in one side of each faceplate.

  • Patent number: 4575780
Abstract: A backpanel assembly has printed circuit board (PCB) connectors aligned in parallel with one another and opposite one another on both sides of the backpanel, pins of opposite connectors passing through the backpanel. Each connector includes first and second groups of pins, conveniently in separate rows where each connector includes two rows of pins, which serve to provide a variable bus system between the connectors. To this end, pins of the first group of one PCB connector are connected via the backpanel to pins of the second group of an adjacent PCB connector on the same face of the backpanel. PCBs inserted into the connectors connect to the first group, but not the second group, of pins, except for bus extender PCBs which serve to interconnect the first and second groups of pins of a PCB connector and thereby extend the bus system across the connector.

  • Patent number: 4511950
Abstract: Each printed circuit board (PCB) on a backpanel has an associated set of power supply studs and power supply pins at an edge of the backpanel. The PCBs can be powered commonly via power supply buses interconnecting the studs. Alternatively, the PCBs can be powered individually via respective power supply PCBs which are inserted into connectors formed partly by the power supply pins and partly by pins on an additional, power supply, backpanel which is mounted to extend contiguously from and in the same plane as the first backpanel. The two arrangements can be combined to power groups of PCBs individually with all of the PCBs in each group being powered commonly.
