  • Patent number: 7313718
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for preventing the corruption of networked storage devices during the process of transferring backup data to a server on the network that has suffered data loss as the result of a disaster. The system and method include a LUN masking driver that masks the LUNs of the networked storage devices such that the operating system of the server cannot access the storage devices. Because the server cannot access and the networked storage devices, there is no risk of corruption resulting from access conflicts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 2003
Date of Patent: December 25, 2007
    Assignee: Dell Products L.P.
    Inventor: David S. Kelman
