  • Patent number: 7050742
Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to hard imaging apparatus charging devices, imaging assemblies, imaging assemblies charging methods, and hard imaging device image bearing member charging methods. In one aspect, a hard imaging apparatus charging device is disclosed. The charging device includes first and second end members, and an intermediate member connecting the first and second end members. The intermediate member may have a length corresponding to an imaging area of the image bearing member of the hard imaging apparatus. The intermediate member may be configured to charge the imaging area used to form latent images on the image bearing member during hard imaging operations of the hard imaging apparatus. The first and second end members of the charging device may be configured to maintain a predetermined spaced charging clearance between the intermediate member and the imaging area of the image bearing member.

  • Patent number: 7035572
Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to hard imaging device charging systems, liquid electrophotography charging systems, hard imaging apparatuses, and hard imaging device electrophotography charging methods. In one embodiment, a hard imaging device charging system is described. The charging system may include a first charging device configured to charge a respective first region of a cylindrical image bearing member used to form latent images during hard imaging operations of the hard imaging device. The charging system may also include a second charging device configured to charge a respective second region of the cylindrical image bearing member used to form latent images during hard imaging operations of the hard imaging device. The first and second regions may have different radii from a central axis of the cylindrical image bearing member.

  • Patent number: 6748189
Abstract: A system and method for extracting carrier liquid utilizes thermal energy generated above a surface from which the carrier liquid is being extracted. The thermal energy can be generated by a heating element positioned over the surface. The thermal energy is used to evaporate the carrier liquid on the surface so that the evaporated carrier liquid can be condensed for collection.

  • Patent number: 6734417
Abstract: A displacement measurement system and a sheet feed system incorporating the same are described. The displacement measurement system includes a support arm, a roller, and an optical encoder. The support arm has a first end and a second end and is configured to turn about a pivot axis on a pivot located closer to the first end than the second end so that displacement of the first end causes a greater corresponding displacement of the second end. The roller is mounted at the first end of the support arm and is configured to rotate about a roller axis substantially parallel to the pivot axis. The optical encoder has at least one component mounted at the second end of the support arm and is configured to generate signals responsive to movement of the second end of the support arm.

  • Patent number: 6615004
Abstract: Systems and methods of supplying marking fluid in an imaging system are described. In one aspect, height signals indicative of relative marking fluid levels in a marking fluid tank reservoir are generated. A measure of marking fluid flow rate is computed based upon multiple height signals generated during at least a portion of a startup period extending from a time when flow of marking fluid to the imaging assembly is insubstantial to a time when marking fluid in the marking fluid tank reservoir reaches a substantially steady-state level.
