  • Patent number: 8991020
Abstract: A hand held felting device includes a body with one or more felting needles and a handle attached thereto for manually felting materials. A motor is provided in the body and is configured to selectively move a shaft reciprocally along the vertical axis upon receipt of power from a power source. The felting needle(s) are mounted to the shaft in the body and thus are configured to move continuously in a reciprocal motion when activated by the motor to felt two or more materials together as a user manually moves the device relative to two or more materials. A safety switch is included with the device in order to selectively activate the motor to move the needle(s). A guard may be operatively associated with the switch to prevent access to the needle(s) and reduce user injury. The needle(s) can be replaced as needed.

  • Publication number: 20140096899
Abstract: A combined portable bias tape and covered piping cord making device. A spindle is rotatably disposed in a housing of a device for supporting a strip of material. Also, at least two folding tips are mountable in the housing—e.g., one for making bias tape and one for covering piping cord—each which can be separately mounted within the housing for making product. The device further includes a heated pressing assembly disposed in the housing for receiving and setting folded longitudinal edges of the strip of material. A cover is configured to enclose at least the spindle and part of the heated pressing assembly within the housing in the closed position. Multiple tips and/or parts can be interchanged depending on the size of the materials and/or the produced product (bias tape or covered piping cord).

  • Patent number: 8602211
Abstract: Disclosed is a holder for holding a set of knitting needles with a main body having first and second end portions. Each end portion has a corresponding aperture, and each aperture is sized to hold one knitting needle of the set of knitting needles. The holder can hold circular knitting needles connected by a flexible cord, for example. Slots may be provided to receive a portion of the flexible cord therein to reduce and/or prevent the cord from twisting and/or tangling during storage or transportation. The body may also have gauge for measuring a size of the knitting needles.

  • Patent number: 8596096
Abstract: A knitting loom that includes a base structure with pin receiving openings for receiving knitting pegs. Each opening has a through hole that allows access to a bottom portion of a knitting peg inserted therein. The knitting peg is adapted to hinder its removal from the pin receiving opening and base structure via a detent or lock provided adjacent its bottom portion. A slot can be provided in the bottom of the loom, which assists in removal of a broken peg from within an opening and allows the loom to be reusable.

  • Patent number: 8567708
Abstract: Disclosed is a portable device for winding thread around a bobbin from a spool of thread. The device includes a height adjustable thread holder configured to receive the spool of thread, a thread guide bar pivotable between a stored position and an operative position, and an adjustable tension feed device for applying tension to the thread during winding. The device also includes a spindle slot configured to receive one of a plurality of rotatable spindles that are interchangeable within the spindle slot so that different corresponding spindles can be used with the device. Also, a speed control knob for adjusting a speed at which the spindle rotates and thus at which thread is wound around the bobbin from the spool of thread, a fill knob for adjusting the amount of thread to be wound on the bobbin, and an automatic shut off mechanism are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8402794
Abstract: Disclosed is a convertible knitting loom that includes a first body and a second body that are connected via a hinge so that the bodies can rotate relative to each other and used in more than one configuration. Each body includes knitting pegs for weaving and knitting yarn. The first and second bodies are configured to be provided in at least first (closed) configuration such that the first body and the second body are parallel to each other and a second (open, linear) configuration such that the bodies are substantially linearly aligned. A removable fastener or lock pin can be used to lock the bodies of the loom in either the first or second configuration.

  • Publication number: 20120000333
Abstract: A rotary cutting device includes a body having a cutter blade with a cutting edge and a pressure roller mounted relative to the cutter blade. The cutter blade is configured to rotate about a rotational axis. The pressure roller is rotationally fixed. The cutter blade and the pressure roller are positioned relative to each other such that pressure is applied to a material fed therebetween. As the cutter blade rotates relative to the pressure roller, the pressure applied to the material being fed therebetween allows for a width of material to cut by a cutting edge of rotating cutter blade. An embossing roller may be used in place of the cutter blade to emboss material. The device also includes guide for guiding material into the machine, pressure adjustment for pressure applied to the material, and rotational speed control. A method for using the rotary cutting device is also disclosed.
