  • Publication number: 20230212758
Abstract: A process for chemical cleaning and corrosion inhibition of pipework, typically in closed loop systems, that avoids or significantly minimises the requirement for wastewater discharge where the system is first acidified using a mixture of cleaning agents capable of dissolving metal oxides. The method then precipitates any dissolved contaminants and separates the precipitate from the carrying fluid. Further elements of a combined corrosion inhibitor package are then added to any cleaning agent ions that remain in solution to develop a fully functional corrosion inhibition package to protect the metals of the system.

  • Publication number: 20190252091
Abstract: A self-bonding conductive wire and methods in which it is made and used. The wire comprises a conductor, an insulator, and a self-bonding outer coating. The self-bonding outer coating is a polyester polyether block copolymer. The insulator is an ethylene/tetrafluoroethylene copolymer, one or more layers of which may be used to insulate the conductor. The self-bonding capabilities of the wire may be activated by heating the wire, causing the outer coating to thermoplastically deform and fuse, allowing for the creation of self-supporting structures such as large bobbin-less coils. The use of the polyester polyether block copolymer for the self-bonding outer coating is superior to other materials, in which significant degradation of qualitative properties following self-bonding is observed, resulting in a superior self-bonding conductive wire.

  • Publication number: 20140205524
Abstract: A process for extracting a target gas component from a gas mixture in an apparatus having a pair of capture and release sections is provided. The pair of capture and release sections includes a sorbent capture section and a sorbent release section, each of the sorbent capture section and sorbent release section having a high surface area medium and a sorbent contained therein. A gas mixture is directed through a flow path, the flow path directing the gas mixture through the sorbent release section followed by the sorbent capture section, wherein the sorbent within the pair of capture and release sections extracts the target gas component and reduces the target gas component in the gas mixture.

  • Publication number: 20080251464
Abstract: Water can be separated from solutes in aqueous solutions by a process of forming water clathrates of gases under high pressure and low temperature conditions. The present invention outlines a series of processes where a low pressure stream of clathrate forming gas is entrained in a low pressure stream of water and carried to a region of high pressure where clathrates are formed. The clathrate crystals are then collected and separated from the solutes. The clathrate crystals are then taken to conditions that allow the clathrate to decompose to water and gas. The gas is maintained at elevated pressure and recycled to be used again as a feedstock in the process of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20070007211
Abstract: A series of devices, methods and compounds for dosing corrosion inhibitors and cleaners to closed loop systems, boilers, towel rails, heat exchangers and heat stores. The devices and materials can be designed to allow corrosion inhibitors and cleaners to be built into boilers, radiators, heat stores, and any other similar devices. The chemicals are either bound into a gel or dissolved within the crystal lattice of a phase change compound. It is possible to design materials that will rapidly release the chemicals at elevated temperatures. These materials allow cold water flushing of systems without releasing the chemicals. The devices can also be modified to incorporated softening resin to remove the hardness from the system water and thereby prevent scaling.
