  • Patent number: 9901859
Abstract: An improved method for the removal of non-targeted components from a non-targeted component containing gas stream, the method includes the steps of: (i) contacting the non-targeted component containing gas stream with a fluid solvent stream; (ii) passing the product of step i) through a co-current phase separation step to produce both a non-targeted component containing solvent stream and a partially purified gas stream; (iii) passing the partially purified gas stream product of step ii) through a mass transfer step to produce a wet gas product; and (iv) passing the wet gas product of step iii) through a final co-current phase separation step to produce a purified gas stream, wherein the method is performed in a subsea location.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 2013
Date of Patent: February 27, 2018
    Assignee: RELEASE ENERGY PTY LTD
Inventors: John Dermot Sullivan, David Stanbridge

  • Patent number: 7066987
Abstract: A separating cyclone for at least partially separating a mixture of fluids of different density into a light fraction with a relatively low density and a heavy fraction with a relatively high density, comprising a flow body in a flow space between the flow body and casing around the flow body wherein at least one bypass channel is provided in the distal part of the flow body, via which channels a part of the mixture flowing along the flow body in the flow space can be guided. Also, a method for separating the above stated mixtures.

  • Patent number: 6752860
Abstract: An apparatus for separation of the fluid flow flowing through a pipeline into a light fraction and a heavier fraction has a tubular casing (2) arranged to constitute a section of the pipeline proper, a spin element (5) for rotation of the fluid flow at the upstream end of the casing (2), and a discharge element (12) downstream of the spin element (5) having opening (13) for discharge of the light fraction and possibly entrained heavier fraction. The apparatus also has a control separator (25) connected to the discharged element (12) and arranged to separate entrained heavier fraction from the light fraction, and a control system including a level transmitter (42) indicating the level of separate heavier fraction in the separator, and a level control unit (43) connected to the level transmitter (42) and to a drain valve (40, 41) in a separator outlet (28) for the light fraction.
