    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 2, 2017
Date of Patent: March 24, 2020
    Assignee: ExxonMobil Chemical Patents Inc.

  • Patent number: 9206363
Abstract: Heavy oil feeds are hydroprocessed in the presence of a solvent under conditions that provide a variety of benefits. The solvent can be an added solvent or a portion of the liquid effluent from hydroprocessing. The processes allow for lower pressure processing of heavy oil feeds for extended processing times or extended catalyst lifetimes be reducing or mitigating the amount of coke formation on the hydroprocessing catalyst.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 8, 2015
Assignee: EXXONMOBIL RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING COMPANY
Inventors: Hyung Suk Woo, Jane Chi-ya Cheng, Teh C. Ho, Stephen Harold Brown, Richard Charles Dougherty, David Thomas Ferrughelli, Federico Barrai
  • Patent number: 8673134
Abstract: A method for the removal of nitrogen compounds from FCC feed or from catalytically cracked distillates including FCC cycle oils by using formaldehyde to selectively couple organic heterocyclic nitrogen species in the FCC feed or FCC distillate to form higher boiling coupling products out of the boiling range of FCC distillate. Removal of the nitrogenous compounds improves the operation of subsequent hydrodesulfurization steps needed for the distillate fraction to conform to low sulfur standards. The formaldehyde is preferably used in the form of paraformaldehyde. The reaction between the nitrogenous compounds in the cycle oil fraction with the formaldehyde is conveniently carried out in the cycle oil pumparound circuit of the FCC main column.

  • Publication number: 20020112987
Abstract: A slurry hydroprocessing process (SHP) where a hydrocarbon feedstock is treated at slurry hydrotreating conditions, in the presence of a hydrogen containing treat gas and in the presence of a supported metallic catalyst which is a supported sulfide of a metal selected from the group of non-noble Group VIII metals, Group VIB metals and mixtures thereof where the support is an inorganic oxide and where the catalyst has an average diameter of about 0.5 to about 100 microns to obtain a first product stream comprising the catalyst and a hydroprocessed feedstream; separating the first product into a catalyst-free product stream and a catalyst-containing stream and recycling at least a portion of the catalyst-containing stream back to the hydroprocessing step.
