  • Patent number: 5975489
Abstract: A valve for dispensing fluid to and from a container. The valve includes a housing defining a flow passage extending longitudinally therethrough. A poppet member is telescopically mounted in the flow passage of the housing and is telescopically movable between an open position and a closed position. The poppet member has a proximal end portion that includes a second retaining structure that cooperates with a first retaining structure of the housing to provide a snap fit connection for retaining the poppet member in the housing. The snap fit connection allows the poppet member to be mounted in the housing by inserting the poppet member through a front end of the housing member.

  • Patent number: 5911403
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a device for controlling fluid flow. The device includes a housing having a front end and a back end. The housing defines a flow passageway extending longitudinally between the front and back ends. A first retaining structure is connected to the housing and positioned within the flow passageway. The device also includes a valve mechanism for opening and closing the flow passageway of the housing. The valve mechanism includes a poppet member mounted within the flow passageway. The poppet member includes a first end opposite from a second end. The first end includes a second retaining structure that cooperates with the first retaining structure of the housing to provide a snap fit connection for retaining the poppet member within the housing.

  • Patent number: 5639064
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a receptor valve assembly having a normally closed fluid passage, and an insert assembly having an open fluid passage. The insert assembly and the receptor valve assembly each include a valve activation structure engageable with one another for opening the fluid passage of the receptor valve assembly upon engagement of the valve activation structures and rotation of the insert assembly relative to the receptor valve assembly wherein their fluid passages are interconnected. The insert assembly and the receptor valve assembly are configured to provide substantially no fluid passage therebetween when closed.

    Assignee: Colder Products Company
Inventors: C. Peter deCler, David W. Meyer
  • Patent number: 5494074
Abstract: A quick connection coupling valve assembly having a poppet member in both a male coupling member and female coupling member, a fluid passageway defined therethrough is opened by engaging the poppet members of the male and female coupling members with each other, the fluid passageway is closed by releasing a spring member to disengage the poppet members from each other. A plurality of longitudinal stops are disposed on an inside wall of the male and female coupling members. The stops limit movement of the poppet members.

  • Patent number: 5353836
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a receptor valve assembly and an insert valve assembly each defining a normally closed fluid passage. The insert and receptor valve assemblies each include a valve activation structure engageable with one another and having corresponding helical grooves and splines for opening the receptor and insert valve assemblies upon engagement of the valve activation structures and rotation of the insert valve assembly relative to the receptor valve assembly wherein their respective fluid passages are interconnected. The insert and receptor valve assemblies are configured to provide substantially no fluid passage therebetween when closed, thereby providing little or no spillage of fluid when disconnecting the insert and receptor valve assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5104158
Abstract: A one piece female coupling member (24) having a front end and back end, the female coupling member (24) defining a path (34) for the flow of fluid therethrough. A male coupling member (22) having a front end and a back end and defining a path (32) for the flow of fluid therethrough, the front end of the male coupling member (22) being insertable into the front end of the female coupling member (24). A seal (36) cooperates with an external surface of the male coupling member (22) and an internal surface of the female coupling member (24) for providing a fluid tight seal therebetween. A one piece quick connecting/disconnecting clip member (26) is slidably mounted in a slot (58) of the female coupling member. The clip member (26) is slidable between a connecting position wherein it engages the male coupling member and a disconnecting position wherein it is disengaged from the male coupling member, the clip member (26) being biased toward the connecting position by a resilient biasing member ( 74).
