  • Patent number: 5566470
Abstract: A metering unloader (29) of the present invention is for use in a tower grain dryer (T). The tower dryer has a grain drying path (11) and the latter has a grain outlet (27) at the lower end thereof, and the tower has at least one discharge outlet (15) in the lower portion thereof. The metering unloader is rotatably mounted within the lower portion (23) of the tower for rotation about a vertical axis (39) and the unloader is powered by a motor (41) for rotatably driving the metering unloader about the vertical axis. The metering unloader is in communication with the grain outlet of the grain drying path and it substantially uniformly removes dried grain from all regions of the lower portion of the dryer upon each revolution of the metering unloader and delivers the dried grain to the discharge outlet for the tower dryer. A method for metering the unloading of grain from the dryer is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5406448
Abstract: A hanger for a power factor capacitor and method of attachment by brazing reduces metallurgical changes that can lead to cracks in the tank wall from welding. The hanger has a base plate with a circular opening and a raised shoulder that provides a single ring of contact between the tank wall and hanger. A ring of brazing alloy is placed within the opening on the tank wall. Through induction of electric current, the brazing alloy melts and flows resulting in a complete braze between the hanger and the tank wall which is accomplished at a much lower temperature than other welding techniques.

  • Patent number: 4748986
Abstract: Floppy guide wire comprising an elongate flexible element formed of a metallic material. The element has a cylindrical proximal portion, a tapered intermediate portion and a flattened distal portion. A coil formed of a substantially radiopaque material is secured to said element and is generally concentric with the element. The coil extends beyond a rounded metallic protrusion is carried by the distal extremity of the coil and is spaced from the distal extremity of the flexible elongate element. A safety wire is disposed within the coil and is secured to the protrusion and to the flexible elongate element.

  • Patent number: 4721117
Abstract: Torsionally stabilized guide wire for use in larger vessels of the vascular system. A relatively flexible helical coil is positioned over the distal end portion of an elongated shaft which increases in flexibility toward its distal end. The coil is affixed to the shaft at the proximal and distal ends of the coil and at an intermediate point near the distal end. A jacket having an outer diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the coil covers the shaft between the proximal end of the shaft and the proximal end of the coil. In one disclosed embodiment, the jacket is formed by heat shrinking a tubular sleeve of polyethylene about the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4619274
Abstract: Guide wire having a progressively attenuated diameter comprising an elongated core element having proximal and distal ends and having a decreasing cross sectional area in a direction towards the distal end. A coil is carried by and secured to said core element an has proximal and distal ends. The coil has a diameter which decreases in a direction towards the distal end. The coil is formed of a wire which has a diameter which decreases from one end to the other end and which is wound in a helix so that the larger diameter wire begins in a region closer to the proximal end and the smaller diameter wire ends in a region closer to the distal end.

  • Patent number: 3979592
Abstract: A radiographic imaging system coupled to a movable table for repositioning subject matter at the conclusion of a scanning of an area of the subject matter. The imaging system is further coupled to a plural axis recording system in which a recording implement, such as a flashing light source, is driven in synchronism with a scanning motion of the imaging system along a recording medium such as a photographic film. Controller circuitry is coupled between the movable table, the imaging system and the recording system for synchronizing their respective operations and for selectably scaling the movement of a drive unit relative to the movement of the scanning. A large subject such as a complete human being may be scanned by repositioning the subject and the movable table at the conclusion of each of a sequence of area scans of the imaging system, and by scaling the output of the scanning system so that the successively scanned regions of the subject can be recorded upon a single standard size x-ray film plate.
