  • Patent number: 6524413
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a preservation mat board for use in framing a picture frame. The mat board includes a top facing layer and/or backing layer, each comprising a buffer and/or deacidifying agent, adhered to a middle board or layer by an adhesive containing zeolites. Another embodiment discloses mixing polystyrene pellets with zeolite using an extruder and one or more blowing agents to form a foam material. One or more paper layers comprising a buffer and/or deacidifying agent are heat-fused, without the use of adhesives, to the surface of the foam to form a preservation mat board.

  • Patent number: 6342145
Abstract: Methods of producing aluminum picture frames having two regions of different colors. Aluminum frame stock is coated with a colored maskant or paint. Selective regions of the coated frame stock are abraded, and then anodized and dyed a second color absorbed by the exposed regions. In a second embodiment, aluminum frame stock is etched, anodized, and dyed a first color. The frame stock is then selectively abraded to remove regions of the first color, and then anodized and dyed a second color so the abraded regions absorb the second color. In a third embodiment, the frame stock is first etched, anodized, and dyed a first color. Selective areas of the frame stock are protected using an etch-resistant mask and is then etched stripping the unmasked regions of the first color and then anodized again and dyed a second color absorbed by the unmasked regions. The mask is then chemically removed.

  • Patent number: 5651627
Abstract: A holder for an auxiliary nib is disclosed which is intended to be fitted on the body of a main marker pen when a finer line is to be drawn. The auxiliary nib holder has as its outer end a cavity in which fits a length of ink-permeable material in ink-transfer contact or relationship with a projecting fine nib. Also seated with the cavity is an axially-movable preferably globular wick which is prevented from falling out of the inner end of the cavity, e.g. by means of an end rib. The globular wick is of controlled and known permeability, so that ink is able to flow at a known and acceptable rate to the fine nib when the auxiliary nib holder is in position in the marker pen and the globular wick is engaged by the marker nib.

  • Patent number: 4107365
Abstract: A method of printing textile and other surfaces and particularly relates to a transfer sheet comprising a flexible carrier sheet having a design in a drying ink surface which design is not transferable to a receptor material by the application of heat alone and a polymer layer applied over the design so that the application of heat to the transfer sheet causes the polymer layer to adhere to the receptor material so that the carrier sheet can be removed leaving the ink design transferred to the polymer which itself is totally transferred to the receptor material. The invention also includes a method of forming a transfer and a method of decorating a material, particularly a textile material, using the transfers and methods of the invention.

  • Patent number: 3987225
Abstract: A dry transfer sheet of the kind described comprising a carrier sheet, at least one design carried by said carrier sheet and releasably bonded thereto, and a layer of shrinkable pressure sensitive adhesive covering said design and overlapping said carrier sheet to stress the edges of the design to cause at least a reduction of bonding between the edges of the design and the carrier sheet.
