  • Patent number: 9816711
Abstract: Air conditioner units and methods for operating air conditioner units are provided. A method includes determining an operational state of each heater bank of a plurality of heater banks of the air conditioner unit, and determining a speed of a blower fan of the air conditioner unit when the operational state of every heater bank is active. The method further includes comparing a blower fan input voltage to a voltage threshold value when the speed is a low speed, and deactivating one of the plurality of heater banks when the blower fan input voltage is less than the voltage threshold value.

  • Patent number: 9784461
Abstract: Air conditioner units and methods of operating the same are provided. One example method includes determining whether one or more heaters included in the air conditioner unit are energized. The method includes determining whether an operating speed of a fan included in the air conditioner unit is less than a threshold speed. The method includes determining whether a power provided to the air conditioner unit by a utilized power supply cord is greater than a threshold power. The method includes de-energizing at least one of the one or more heaters when it is determined that the one or more heaters are energized, the operating speed of the fan is less than the threshold speed, and the power provided by the utilized power supply cord is greater than the threshold power.

  • Patent number: 9726386
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, an air conditioner unit is provided. The air conditioner unit includes a heater housing having peripheral surfaces defining a housing interior, the peripheral surfaces including a first sidewall and a second sidewall spaced apart along the lateral direction. The air conditioner unit further includes a guide track extending along the lateral direction between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The air conditioner unit further includes a blower fan, the blower fan including a blade assembly disposed within the interior and a motor connected to the blade assembly. The air conditioner unit further includes a heating unit comprising a first bracket and a second bracket spaced apart along the lateral direction. The heating unit further includes at least one heater bank extending along the lateral direction between the first bracket and the second bracket. The heating unit is movable along the guide track.

  • Publication number: 20160298862
Abstract: A heating system for an air conditioner unit may generally include a heating coil and a thermostat supported above the heating coil by a support mount. The system may also include a thermostat hood configured to at least partially surround the thermostat. The thermostat hood may include a front wall spaced apart from the support mount and a top wall extending between the front wall and the support mount. The thermostat hood may further include first and second sidewalls extending between the front wall and the support mount. The front wall, the top wall, the sidewalls and the support mount may collectively define a hood chamber for receiving at least a portion of the thermostat. Moreover, at least a portion of the bottom side of the thermostat hood may define an air intake opening for receiving heated air rising upward from the heating coil.
