  • Publication number: 20080118790
Abstract: A method and device for the pumping of liquids utilizes the directional growth and elimination of gaseous vesicles or bubbles to provide the motive or pumping force. In one embodiment, the pumping device is a microfluidic pumping mechanism having a channel, a bubble generator for generating a plurality of bubbles within the channel, and a venting membrane disposed over a portion of the channel downstream of the bubble generator. A one-way valve or directional resistance feature is positioned upstream of the bubble generator to introduce directional transport of bubbles within the channel. The method and device may be integrated into micro fuel cells with organic liquid fuel such that liberated gaseous bubbles may be utilized to deliver fresh fuel or circulate reusable fuel without any power-consuming components.

  • Patent number: 7321532
Abstract: The present invention provides a protection device and method of a read and write medium apparatus. When the read and write medium apparatus is operating, the protection device detects the external force and dynamically compels to cut the power supply off to remain the apparatus in non-operating condition. Besides, after the external force is withdrawn, the protection device can make the apparatus return to its prior operation operating condition. Thus, the invention enhances the shock-proof, drop-proof and collision-proof capabilities of the read and write medium apparatus and the protection thereof further.

  • Patent number: 7145578
Abstract: A method of processing received objects in a rendering system determines whether a detection scheme which already has grouped objects exits. The rendering system has a plurality of detection schemes, with each detection schemes having an associated object group type. If such a detection scheme does not exist and a previously received object has been stored, then the method determines in descending priority order whether one of the detection schemes is operative to group the received object with the previously received object. If it is determined that none of the detection schemes is operative to group the received object with the previously received object, then the previously received object is output for rendering the received object is stored. If it is determined that one of the detection schemes is operative to group the received object with the previously received object, then the received object is grouped with the previously received object.

  • Patent number: 6622310
Abstract: A hair cover is composed of a top and a bottom piece, in which the top piece further comprises a relatively longer side, an opposite relatively shorter side, and two arcuate equilateral sides; the bottom piece is correspondingly shaped to the top piece, having also a relatively longer side, a shorter side, two arcuate equilateral sides, and a central through hole. The top and the bottom piece are to be combined together by binding thermally the corresponding portions of each piece to form a trapezoid hair cover that is capable of promoting the wearing comfortableness considerably. In wearing the hair cover, one's head is put penetrating the central hole to have his hair shaded closely from his forehead and his longer hair portion shaded in a wider rear end by taking advantage of the natural stretchability of the resilient cloth of the hair cover.

  • Patent number: 6615838
Abstract: A mask is made of a single piece of flexible, elastically deformable fabric trimmed to be substantially symmetric. The mask includes two flaps connected to each other along a center folding line. A V-shaped cutoff is formed above and below the center folding line between the flaps. The single piece of fabric is bent along the folding line with the flaps overlapping each other. Side edges of the flaps that define each V-shaped cutoff are sealed together by means of sewing or adhesives whereby an interior space is formed between the flaps and defined by the center folding line and the sealed side edges of the V-shaped cutoffs for comfortably accommodating the nose and mouth of a wearer.

  • Patent number: 6097256
Abstract: A CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) high-frequency ring oscillator is provided for generating an output frequency in response to a control voltage in a wide bandwidth. The ring oscillator is of the type including a plurality of cascaded delay circuits, such as CMOS CSL (common-sense logic) inverters. The ring oscillator is characterized by the additional incorporation of each of the CMOS CSL inverters with either a positive-feedback gate structure or a positive-feedback drain structure so as to improve the output-to-output characteristics of the ring oscillator. More specifically, the ring oscillator is still operable to output an oscillating signal even though the control voltage is reduced to below a certain level, at which point the gain is still larger than 1. The ring oscillator is therefore more advantageous than the prior art both in gain and output-to-output characteristics and is operable over a wide variety of output frequencies, particularly in the low-frequency regions.
