  • Patent number: 8523383
Abstract: A retrofit kit assembly for a recessed lighting fixture and methods for manufacturing and installing the same are described herein. The retrofit kit includes at least two mounting brackets, which can each include at least one lamp socket. The kit also includes at least one ballast, which may be pre-wired to the sockets. Each ballast may include a temporary adhesive on a mounting side thereof, for use during the installation process. For example, the installer may provisionally mount the ballast to an interior surface of an existing housing of the fixture and then permanently mount the ballast using one or more fasteners. The mounting brackets and ballast of the kit may include captive hardware which is held in place in the aperture for the fastener prior to fastening the particular object to the recessed housing, which reduces risk of dropping or losing fasteners during installation.

  • Patent number: 6530674
Abstract: Apparatus and method for joining and aligning fixture modules in an end-to-end relationship, utilizing paired interlocking connectors. The apparatus and method are particularly suited for connecting fluorescent light modules which are suspended from a wall or ceiling, with minimal end-to-end distance between the ends of the fluorescent light tubes in adjacent modules. The connectors are placed at the ends of the modules, with a body portion of each connector adjacent a module end. Tapered tabs, joined to at least one body portion of each pair of connectors, are insertable through tapered openings in the body portion of the other connector in the pair to connect the two modules to each other.

  • Patent number: 5727870
Abstract: An assembly and method utilizing a staggered multiple lamp and reflector configuration for indirect illumination providing superior photometric distribution and light utilization, which is adaptable to a slim profile design. The lamps are staggered and surrounded by reflectors which separate the light emanating from the lamps and thereby minimize absorption of light directed from one lamp to the adjacent lamp. Light is directly or, when it strikes reflectors surrounding the respective lamps, indirectly directed to an extended reflector which directs light to the illuminated surface.

  • Patent number: 5624202
Abstract: An assembly and method for mounting linear structures in locked longitudinal alignment, which includes retainer bars joinable to a bracket for mounting linear structures and a pin assembly having wedge pins protruding outwardly from a base wherein the wedge pins engage opposing apertures in a locked, spring-loaded interface tightened into alignment by a retainer screw. The locked interface between opposing edges of the wedge pin and the apertures impart strong resistance to displacement forces, thereby providing a system for joining and mounting permitting adjustment and alignment of independently suspended linear structures and subsequent tightening down of the linear structures.
