Patent number: 6612051Abstract: A tool assembly using a fluid-powered actuator and including first and second tool members. The first tool member is pivotably connectable to a boom arm of a vehicle or stationary support platform for rotation about a first axis. The first tool member is also attached to a body of the actuator and the second tool members is attached to a shaft of the actuator so that operation of the actuator rotates the second tool member relative to the first tool member about a second axis spaced apart from the first axis and independent of rotation of the first tool member about the first axis. The second tool member is positioned to cooperatively engage the first tool member to assist in collection operations. The actuator has a generally cylindrical body with an output shaft rotatably disposed therein for rotation about the second axis.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2002Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: 1994 Weyer Family Limited PartnershipInventors: Dean R. Patent number: 6585079Abstract: A fluid-powered rotatable work platform assembly for use with a vehicle such as a vehicle having an arm for positioning the assembly. The assembly includes a work platform or support configured to support a load, a body having a cavity extending along a longitudinal axis, and an output shaft rotatably disposed within the body generally coaxial with the longitudinal axis. A linear-to-rotary force transmitting member is positioned within the cavity of the body and engaged with the body and the output shaft to translate linear motion of the force transmitting member to rotational motion of one of the output shaft and the body relative to the other.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1999Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: 1994 Weyer Family Limited PartnershipInventor: Dean R. Patent number: 5671652Abstract: A fluid powered rotary actuator having a body with first and second ends. The body has a generally cylindrical interior sidewall with a grooved, inwardly facing circumferential portion. The body is adapted for coupling to a first external member. A drive member extends generally coaxially within the body and is supported for rotation relative thereto. The drive member has an end flange positioned toward the body first end adapted for coupling to a second external member, and a shaft rigidly attached to the end flange. The shaft has a grooved, outwardly facing circumferential sidewall portion positioned within the body toward the body second end and a smooth, outwardly facing circumferential sidewall portion positioned within the body between the end flange and the shaft groove sidewall portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1996Date of Patent: September 30, 1997Assignee: 1994 Weyer Family Limited PartnershipInventor: Dean R. Patent number: 5487230Abstract: A fluid-powered, laterally tiltable tool actuator. A tool has a pair of clevises, and an actuator has a generally cylindrical body with an output shaft rotatably disposed therein with an axis in general parallel alignment with a forward rotation plane through which the tool is rotatable on a backhoe arm by the operation of a rotation link. A bracket is attached to the body and has a pair of clevises for pivotal attachment to the vehicle arm and rotation link. The output shaft has a pair of shaft attachment members at each end for attaching the shaft to the corresponding tool clevises. The first pair of shaft attachment members is rigidly fixed to the shaft and attached to a first tool clevis. The second pair of shaft attachment members is pivotally attached to the shaft and pivots in a plane generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1994Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Inventor: Dean R. Patent number: 5327812Abstract: A fluid-powered actuator having a body with a shaft adapted for coupling to an external device to provide rotational drive thereto. A piston sleeve is mounted for reciprocal longitudinal movement within the body to provide rotational drive to the shaft. A plurality of seals are positioned within the body to provide a fluid-tight seal between the body and the shaft, and between the piston and both the shaft and the body. A pair of support members are positioned out of the body and fixedly attached to the body at spaced-apart locations. Each support member has an attachment portion extending circumferentially fully about the body, and a mounting portion. A pair of boom attachment plates are weldable to the mounting portions while the shaft, piston, torque-transmitting member, and seals remain assembled within the body. To avoid damage to the seals, a fluid channel is formed at least partially within each of the attachment portions and fully encircles the body.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1993Date of Patent: July 12, 1994Inventors: Paul P.
