  • Patent number: 7092119
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, system, and program for managing calibration files in a printing system. Patches are printed using a screening algorithm and incorporating at least one output appearance factor. A calibration file is generated from measured color values of the printed patches mapping a color space for the printed patches to a color space of a printer used to print the patches. Information is associated with the calibration file indicating the printer and at least one output appearance attribute for use in selecting one calibration file to use when printing a print job.

  • Patent number: 6965390
Abstract: A data processing controlled display system for the interactive display and control of a hierarchical trees of elements or objects in which multiple tree views are presented to the user. The objects in the views are selectable to display detail views of the objects, particularly attributes of the child objects of the selected parent object. The multiple tree views may be of different portions of the same tree or of different trees. The tree views are thus available for side by side comparison and detailed study, after which the system provides the capability to transfer objects from tree view to tree view, e.g. by drag and drop means.

  • Patent number: 6344859
Abstract: A data processing controlled display system for the interactive control of a variety of production operations is provided which offers to the operator a plurality of selectable sets of basic interactive functions, each set respectively for the control of one of a plurality of types of production operations. The operator interactively selects the one of said sets of basic functions most suitable for the control of the type of production operation which he wishes to control. There is further provided a plurality of selectable secondary functions for supplementing his selected set of basic functions for the production operation control and means for selecting at least one of said secondary functions so that the selected secondary function is combined with the selected set of basic functions into a customized interactive display interface for the control of the production operation.

  • Patent number: 6335795
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for selecting one of a plurality of printers attached to a server with a user interface installed on a computer networked to the server. The computer would first query a cache or the server for a first set of print options supported by at least one of the printers. The user interface is then updated to include the first set of print options. After the user interface program is used to select a print option from the first set, the computer then determines a second set of print options available with the previously selected print option. Each print option in the second set is supported by at least one of the printers that also supports the print option selected from the first set. The user interface program is then updated to include the second set of print options.

  • Patent number: 6232968
Abstract: A data processing controlled display system for the interactive control of a variety of operations is provided which offers to an operator a plurality of selectable sets of basic interactive functions (i.e. an interactive display interface), each set respectively for the control of one of a plurality of types of operations. There are also provided means for switching a selected first one of said plurality of interactive display interfaces to a selected second one of said display interfaces and means for interactively controlling another one of said production control operations through said second selected interface.

  • Patent number: 6151024
Abstract: A data processing controlled display system for the interactive display and control of a hierarchical tree of elements or objects which are selectable to display detailed views of the attributes of the child objects of the selected parent object. The invention is directed to parent objects of which the child objects are different object types. Upon the selection of such a parent object, its child objects are displayed in a plurality of separate screen regions, each respectively displaying the attributes of one of said different types of child objects. The different types of child objects may come from different levels in the hierarchy. The invention is also applicable to the hierarchical trees used in object oriented programming and particularly to situations in object oriented programming where the selected parent object is of a container class.

  • Patent number: 6128017
Abstract: In a data processor controlled display system interface for controlling operations, there is provided an error message monitoring and logging system which includes an indicator having a normal state and an attention state together with means for switching said indicator to the attention state upon receipt of a new error message. There are means for enabling a user to designate or click on this indicator and means responsive to said designation for displaying a log including at least said new error message. There are also means responsive to a subsequent user designation or clicking on of the indicator for removing said log and means for restoring said indicator to the normal state after said log is displayed.

  • Patent number: 6115044
Abstract: A data processing controlled display system for the interactive display and control of operations through a displayed tree having a plurality of items to be acted upon, wherein a parent item at one level has at least one child item at the next lower level, and means for enabling a modification of at least one property of all of the child items by enabling a designation of the modification of the property at the parent level without the modification of any property of the parent item. The system also has means for enabling the modification of the properties of at least one of the child items independently of any designation of modification made at the parent level.

  • Patent number: 5999945
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for organizing files associated with a job ticket in a computer system linked to a storage device. The job ticket includes information on a document included in a print job, information on a plurality of files that are associated with the document, and location information indicating the location of the files. The user specifies a directory location in the storage device in which to copy the job ticket and related print job files. The files are accessed using the location information and copied, along with the job ticket, to the user specified directory location in the storage device. The invention may further include the step of modifying the location information to indicate that the files copied to the directory location are in a location relative to the location of the job ticket. The user may enter the directory location using a GUI on a computer.

  • Patent number: 5875484
Abstract: A method and system for capturing and controlling access to information in a data processing system are provided. The data processing system includes one or more operating systems coupled to a coupling facility. When one or more operating systems lose communication with the coupling facility, a surviving operating system captures some or all of the information in the coupling facility, including that information associated with the failed operating system(s). In order to capture the information when a system fails or at any other time, the information in the coupling facility is serialized, thereby preventing all access to the information except for those commands capturing the information. While the information is serialized, requests for the information are queued and then re-driven once serialization is released. If an operating system loses communication with the coupling facility during the creation of a dump, another operating system will continue the dump.

  • Patent number: 5872568
Abstract: The invention is carried out in the following environment. The computer system has at least a visual operator interface, an operating system for operating applications within the computer system, and memory for storing at least part, preferably all, of an application. The present invention provides a method, apparatus, and application for constructing in a graphical user interface a list of values from pre-defined and user-defined values. Also disclosed is a means for adding, modifying, and deleting values. Additionally disclosed is a means for copying selected values from one entry to another entry in the list of values.
