The transaction record may be based on information handwritten or printed on the negotiable instrument. The transaction record may be transmitted to a second financial institution. The second financial institution may conduct a fraud analysis based on the transaction record. The second financial institution may transmit a fraud indicator to the first financial institution. Based on the fraud indicator, the first institution may accept or deny the request of the payee. Apparatus and methods may distribute computing resources associated with detection of fraudulent negotiable instrument.
