  • Patent number: 7716659
Abstract: A method for controlling transfer of files in a network of inserters at a plurality of sites from a remote command center. The method retrieving inserter data stored at the plurality of inserter sites and storing the data at the command center. The command center further uploading software updates to the plurality of inserters in accordance with a predefined upload/download scheme. The upload/download scheme defined at the command center via a graphical interface. The upload/download scheme identifying one or more of the plurality of inserters for the file transfer transaction, identifying inserter data from the selected one or more inserters to upload to the command center, identifying software updates to download from the command center to the one or more selected inserters, identifying a time for the file transfer transaction, identifying a sequence for the upload and download portions of the transfer transaction; and executing the defined file transfer transaction.

  • Patent number: 7355743
Abstract: A method for monitoring the status of individual communications that are included in mail pieces created by a large scale document production and management processes. More than one communication may be included in a single mail piece to a given address. Accordingly, the present invention allows monitoring and tracking of individual communications where mail piece information alone may be insufficient. The production and management process may be comprised of a plurality of different stages including: utilizing a print stream to generate the documents, printing documents on a printer in accordance with the print stream, and forming completed mail pieces on an inserter from the printed documents in accordance with mail piece creation data files. A monitoring system receives information regarding the status of individual documents within these production and management process stages.

  • Publication number: 20040133592
Abstract: A system for gathering and transmitting detailed inserter machine data to one or more clients. The inserter controller gathers substantially all significant machine data from machine sensors and control routines data relating to the operation of the machine and the processing of mail pieces. The gathered data is stored in a compressed format in journal format. A data pump processes the compressed journal data, extracting those parts that are of interest, and transmitting them to client applications in a format that is easily interpreted. The data pump processing includes selecting a subset of data from the journal that is of interest to the particular client.
