    Abstract: The invention relates to methods and compositions for modulating the biofilm formation by bacteria. In particular, the invention provides a method for reducing biofilm formation by bacteria comprising administering a control agent wherein the control agent is glucose, a glucose analogue, an adenylate cyclase inhibitor, a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, or a IIAGlc dephosphorylation stimulator. The invention also provides a method for enhancing biofilm formation by bacteria comprising administering cAMP or a cAMP analogue.
