Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for launching a child application to perform functions on a document created by a parent application without the need for integration of the child application within the parent application. In one implementation, a system detects a child application available for activation by a processor of a computer and determines what functions the child application can perform. The system then determines that the function can operate on an open file, and once the system receives a selection of the function, the system launches the child application and performs the function on the open file. In another implementation, the system determines that the function may operate on a plurality of open files, creates an interface that allows selection of one of the plurality of open files, and launches the child application and performs the function on a selected file.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for bidirectional multifunction communication between a computing device and applications located at an external server. The bidirectional communications allows an operation to be performed on a file using a computing device and an external server. In one implementation, an application resides on a desktop computer that is connected to the Internet. The application sends a request to an external server accessible through the Internet using a bidirectional communication system. The server accepts and processes the request and provides data back to the computer via the same bidirectional communication system. A user may then access the data, manipulate it and provide an additional request to the server via the bidirectional communication system.

The attached document has metadata removed to create a cleansed version of the attached document. A comparison is performed between an original primary document and the modified primary document, ignoring the embedded objects, the output of which is a comparison output document. Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for the reflowing of content in a structured portable document format (PDF) document in its native format, including an application for adding and/or deleting content in the PDF document; a reflow mechanism in communication with the application and configured for reflowing content immediately following the added and/or deleted content until the end of the document. The reflowing for the added content includes shifting existing content after the added content to a physical location in the document immediately following the added content, and the reflowing for the deleted content includes shifting existing content after the deleted content to a physical location in the document to where the deleted content was originally located; and displaying the resulting document. The adding and/or deleting of the content and the reflowing of the content are performed while the document is maintained in its native format.
