  • Patent number: 4603522
Abstract: A hingeable connection is disclosed for use in connecting wall slabs to ceiling slabs in foldable slab constructed buildings, which connection comprises an access hole thru the ceiling slab, which access hole is located over a hinged edge of an underlying wall slab, and an elongated connecting member which is inserted down thru the access hole to engage a pivot type connection secured to the underlying wall, and the vertical movement of the elongated connection member is restrained by the ceiling slab, so that when the ceiling slab is elevated, the underlying wall slab is elevated and brought to a dependent vertical position, and the vertical wall slab is placed upon a supportive floor, and the ceiling slab is lowered onto the wall and guided into position by the hingeable connection.

  • Patent number: 4557099
Abstract: Method is disclosed for construction of foldable constructed concrete slab buildings, in which method wall slabs for each floor level of the proposed building, are cast on site in horizontal layers, and groups of wall slabs are cast in stacks, with hinged edges of the wall slabs arranged according to the plan of the walls in the proposed building, and modular sections of ceiling slabs are cast near by in continuous array, and access slots are cast thru said ceiling slabs, and said access slots are arranged according to locations of the walls in the proposed building, and a lifting apparatus lifts a section of a ceiling slab and places it on top of a related group of wall slabs, and a connection device is inserted downward thru each of the access slots to engage the hinge edge of a wall, and said device being of the type that permits the hinge edge of the wall slab to rotate freely under the underside of the ceiling slab, and the ceiling slab is lifted, and the walls depend downward to a vertical position form

  • Patent number: 4528793
Abstract: Method is disclosed for the construction of a concrete building utilizing precast floor slabs and in situ cast concrete columns, in which method, the forms for the columns are utilized to support the precast concrete floors and the columns are cast thru holes provided in the floor slabs, with the reinforcing of the slabs continuous thru the holes, and reinforcing for the columns continuous vertically for multi level buildings. In addition, means is disclosed for casting beams between the columns to provide a concrete frame which is made to function as a composite beam with the floor slab. In addition, means is disclosed to utilize the foldable concrete walls to provide lateral stability during the erection.

  • Patent number: 4497154
Abstract: The invention concerns the method of constructing and assembling the component structural elements for stadiums and the like structures, in which method the elements are assembled in overlying layers over the foundation for the structure, with hinged connections between the elements, and lifting certain of these elements, permits gravity to cause the other elements to rotate downward where the lower ends are placed on the supportive foundation, and they are secured to provide a rigid structure.

  • Patent number: 4437272
Abstract: An insert device cast integrally with the concrete for controlling the articulation of overlying and underlying slabs in Multi Slab Folding Building Construction, wherein the device provides a bar integral with the overlying slab which bar serves as connection for lifting hook used in erecting building and for picking up load of the overlying slab, and an extension of the device into a pocket provided in the underlying slab, engages a pivot in the underlying slab which pivot permits the underlying slab to rotate to a vertical position when the overlying slab is elevated, and the sides of the pocket are formed by short pieces of angle which engage the pivot, and in addition the angles are welded to bars extending from the angles to weld plates located at the base edge of the wall.

  • Patent number: 4314775
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the construction of structures for tunnels, culverts, and pressure pipes of any size and shape, straight or curved, constant or variable cross section. The method requires very little formwork, with all work done on site. The method discloses the casting of a lower half of the structure as a continuous element, and the method of utilizing this half as a form in which modular lengths of the upper half of the structure are cast, lifted, inverted, and lowered to form the complete structure. Various methods are disclosed for joining the modules comprising the upper half of the structure to provide various degrees of structural continuity and fluid tightness.

  • Patent number: 4118901
Abstract: A building having a roof constructed of a plurality of plates connected by hinges at the common edges, said plates initially arranged folded together, with lower edges of the outer plates hingeably connected to upper edge of side walls, and said side walls hingeably connected at each end of each side wall to a pair of end walls constructed of a plurality of wall panels, said wall panels hingeably interconnected along common vertical edges, and initially arranged folded together. Total projected width of end panels is substantially less than total width of roof plates. Unfolding the roof plates causes the side walls of the structure to move apart and the end walls to simultaneously unfold until the end walls are fully distended, at which position said end walls stop the roof plates from unfolding further, and retain the roof plates in a folded plate configuration.

  • Patent number: 3968618
Abstract: A method and means is disclosed for the construction of clearspan foldable building structures, in which structural beams, capable of spanning the desired distance, are assembled on top of and pivotally connected to supporting units arranged in a horizontal plane; and lifting the beams causes the mid span of the beams to deflect upward and the supporting units to be lifted up and rotated into a generally vertical position; in which position the supporting unit is rigidly connected to the beams and the assembly is placed in position and anchored to the foundation of the structure; and releasing the lifting force permits the beams to deflect down at midspan and develop a resisting moment at each connection to the supporting units.
