Abstract: An assembly for injection molding eyeglass frames is provided including a mold having a mold interior and a mold insert located within the mold interior. The insert has an insert body that seals the mold interior and forms a mold channel when the mold is closed, and an insert edge that extends into the mold channel. The insert edge has a first side, a second side, and a boundary, and the first side follows a surface trajectory of a corresponding side of the insert body, and the second side tapers towards the first side. Also provided is an insert for use in the assembly and glasses formed using the assembly.

A third lens is secured in the first eye-piece and a fourth lens is secured in the second eye-piece. A first connecting member and a second connecting member releasably secure the first eye-piece and the second eye-piece to the first and the second sub-frames, respectively. At least one of the third and the fourth lens may take the form of a corrective lens.

Magnetic couplings are attached along a first portion of the perimeter behind the tab and along a second portion of the perimeter, respectively. When the eyewear is assembled, the frame magnets magnetically attach to the corresponding magnetic couplings, and the tab is inserted into the indentation to fill the indentation flush with the frame front face.

The apparatus has a closed position in which a lid closure magnet is detachably attached to a base closure magnet and an open position in which the closure magnets are not in contact with each other.
