  • Patent number: 11972307
Abstract: Implementations set forth herein relate to an automated assistant that can be invoked while a user is interfacing with a foreground application in order to retrieve data from one or more different applications, and then provide the retrieved data to the foreground application. A user can invoke the automated assistant while operating the foreground application by providing a spoken utterance, and the automated assistant can select one or more other applications to query based on content of the spoken utterance. Application data collected by the automated assistant from the one or more other applications can then be used to provide an input to the foreground application. In this way, the user can bypass switching between applications in the foreground in order to retrieve data that has been generated by other applications.

  • Patent number: 7747749
Abstract: Documents are preloaded from a server to a client device before the client device submits a request for the preloaded documents. The server predicts which documents to preload based on past user browsing activities at the client device and document layouts. At the client device, specific graphical features may be applied to the links to the preloaded documents such that a user can easily tell which document link is associated with the preloaded documents.

  • Publication number: 20010032598
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for electronically deterring an animal from approaching an exclusion area around an exclusion unit or from entering or leaving an area bounded by a wire. The animal is provided with a collar unit, which includes a sensor adapted to sense the strength of electromagnetic signals generated by the exclusion unit or wire and a correction unit adapted to provide correction to the animal in response to a sensor output. The portable unit reports to a central controller which selects a correction strategy, such as level of correction to be applied to the animal approaching the perimeter. The controller provides warnings to the user, including warnings for when the battery in the collar unit goes low and when the animal stays in a correction zone for too long. The controller may control a number of exclusion units and/or power units, and may select an appropriate correction for one of a plurality of animals.

  • Patent number: 5327774
Abstract: A method and device for testing artificial or natural venous valves. The device comprises chamber (10) a sample for mounting a test valve (V) on a liquid flow path and a muscle pump component (16) and/or respiratory pump component (50) and/or capacitance reservoir (58) and/or vertical hydrostatic column component (102) fluidly connected to the flow path to mimic the muscle pump, respiratory pump, capacitance and hydrostatic impedance effects on venous circulation in the mammalian body. Included in the invention are methods of testing venous valves by mimicking known hemodynamic flow conditions within a mammalian body.

  • Patent number: 5272909
Abstract: A method and device for testing artificial or natural venous valves. The device comprises (a) a fixture for mounting a sample valve on a liquid flow path, (b) a muscle pump component and/or (o) respiratory pump component and/or (d) capacitance reservoir component and/or (e) vertical hydrostatic column component, all of the components being fluidly connected to the flow path to mimic the muscle pump, respiratory pump, capacitance and hydrostatic impedance effects of actual in situ venous circulation in the mammalian body. The invention includes methods of testing venous valves by mimicking known hemodynamic flow conditions within a mammalian body.

  • Patent number: 4060463
Abstract: A method for reducing the aqueous dispersion present in the amalgam being fed to a mercury cell which comprises reducing the velocity of amalgam stream at one or more stations along the amalgam flow where the amalgam enters a substantially static pool of amalgam which is itself covered by a layer of an aqueous phase, e.g., at lutes located at the exit of the cell, the exit of the denuder, the entry to a pump tank or pump, and the entry to a wash box feeding to the cell. The invention is advantageous for reducing chloride entrainment in the amalgam fed to the denuder and for reducing the build-up of thick mercury deposits on the baseplate of a mercury cell.
