  • Publication number: 20220379100
Abstract: A shunt comprises a central flow portion configured to fit at least partially within an opening in a tissue wall. The tissue wall is situated between a first anatomical chamber and a second anatomical chamber and the opening represents a blood flow path between the first anatomical chamber and the second anatomical chamber. The central flow portion is further configured to maintain the blood flow path from the first anatomical chamber to the second anatomical chamber. The shunt further comprises a barrier configured to alter growth of tissue around the shunt.

The tissue wall is situated between a first anatomical chamber and a second anatomical chamber and the opening represents a blood flow path between the first anatomical chamber to the second anatomical chamber. The central flow portion is further configured to maintain the blood flow path from the first anatomical chamber to the second anatomical chamber, prevent in-growth of tissue within the opening, and expand in response to expansion of the tissue wall.

  • Publication number: 20190008629
Abstract: A catheter assembly is configured to segmentally expand a scaffold. The catheter assembly includes a balloon that is inflated to expand a first scaffold region, is deflated and retracted into the expanded first scaffold region, and then inflated to expand a second scaffold region.

  • Patent number: 9918822
Abstract: A method of stimulating a renal nerve in a human patient comprising, selecting a span of renal artery in the patient for implantation of a self-expanding stent, the artery having a first internal diameter, an artery wall, and being surrounded by peri-adventitial space through which at least one renal nerve extends; measuring the first internal diameter; selecting a self-expanding stent configured to be capable of expanding to have a second diameter that, in an expanded condition once implanted within the artery, is between 2 mm and 4 mm larger than the first diameter; implanting the stent in the span of the renal artery, whereby the stent eventually expands to the second diameter and thereby passes through the artery wall to become embedded in peri-advential space; and at least partially blocking the renal nerve or modulating a function of the nerve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 20, 2015
Date of Patent: March 20, 2018
    Assignee: ABBOTT CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS INC.

  • Patent number: 9861504
Abstract: A method for treating a patient diagnosed with a cardio-renal disease or disorder, the method comprising selecting a span of a renal artery having a first internal diameter, an artery wall; selecting a self-expanding stent having a cylindrical outer surface, the stent being configured to have a first external diameter in an unexpanded condition and being capable of expanding to have a second external diameter; implanting the stent in the span of the renal artery, and applying pressure to the at least one renal nerve with the stent, thereby at least partially modulating a function of the at least one renal nerve; then, reducing an elastic modulus of the stent when the stent has the second external diameter.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 9, 2018
