  • Publication number: 20100119089
Abstract: A speaker assembly includes a speaker housing with a closed top wall, an opposed open end and first, second, third and fourth sidewalls extending downwardly from the closed top wall. The closed top wall is substantially planar and forms a support surface. First and second midrange drivers and first and second high frequency drivers are mounted within the housing, wherein the first midrange driver and the first tweeter are mirror images of second midrange driver and the second tweeter. A first support bracket supports the first midrange driver and first tweeter along a first side of the closed top wall adjacent the first sidewall of the speaker housing. The first support bracket includes a planar support surface which is obliquely oriented relative to a plane in which the closed top wall lies. A second support bracket supports the second midrange driver and the second tweeter along a second side of the closed top wall adjacent the third sidewall of the speaker housing.

  • Patent number: 6719090
Abstract: The speaker assembly includes a speaker housing having a closed top wall and an opposed open end. The speaker assembly further includes a first sound source having a cone with an interior surface and an exterior surface. The first sound source is mounted within the speaker housing such that the interior surface of the cone faces the closed top wall and the exterior surface substantially faces the opposed open end. A portion of the exterior surface of the cone is covered, thereby, revealing an exposed portion which defines the directionality of the first sound source. The speaker assembly also includes a second sound source having a cone with an interior surface and an exterior surface. The second sound source is mounted within the speaker housing such that the interior surface of the cone faces the closed top wall and the exterior surface substantially faces the opposed open end.

  • Patent number: 6466675
Abstract: The invention relates to a loudspeaker system. The loudspeaker system respectively includes first and second satellite speaker having a housings supporting a high frequency driver and a middle frequency driver. Each housing forms a complete enclosure with a single opening and the middle frequency driver includes a magnet and a cone. The middle frequency drivers are respectively mounted within the single openings of the housings such the middle frequency drivers seal the interior of the housings from an external environment and the magnets are directed away from the interior of the housings. The high frequency drivers are mounted to the housings for movement in a plurality of planes. The system further includes a subwoofer having a subwoofer housing in which at least one low frequency driver is mounted. The invention further relates to the specific loudspeakers forming the present system.
