    Abstract: A coupler arrangement for rapid transit passenger cars includes a self-centering coupler shank having limited horizontal and vertical swinging movement about a spherical bearing structure. The arrangement includes first and second shock absorbing mechanisms sequentially effective. A pin type coupler includes a locking arrangement on the coupler structure engageable with the coupler pin.

  • Hopper car door locking mechanism

    Abstract: The locking mechanism comprises a clevis arrangement on a hopper door which is engaged by a jaw positioned centrally on a hopper structure. A locking bar is provided which extends to the outer edge of the hopper structure and is connected to rotate with a locking plate which is manually actuated. A safety pawl is provided to prevent inadvertent rotation of the locking plate.

    Abstract: A sleeping berth for a passenger car compartment includes a tubular bed frame and mattress combination which is hingedly movable between use and non-use positions to a side wall of the car. The bed frame is latched in the non-use position and includes webbing which is spring loaded to urge the bed into the non-use position upon initial movement when raising the berth from a sleeping or use position.
