  • Publication number: 20060035590
Abstract: A computing system wherein communication between a host computer and peripheral units, e.g. computer mouse and keyboard, is performed using RF signals. The host computer and the peripheral units each contain a transceiver for managing and transmitting the RF communication messages. An acknowledgement is sent by the receiving transceiver to the sending transceiver to signify that the message was successfully received. If no acknowledgement is received by the sending transceiver, a subsequent RF communication message is sent until an acknowledgement is received. A sleep mode is invoked between messages to conserve battery power in the peripheral units, and the peripheral units send a report message to the host when awaking periodically, or by a user demand, from the sleep mode signifying that the peripheral unit is active and ready to send or receive messages.

  • Publication number: 20050254647
Abstract: A wireless interface device for a keyboard of a computer system is achieved. The device comprises a radio transmitter and receiver. A modem encodes data to be sent by the radio transmitter and decodes data received by the radio receiver. A central processing unit is included. A direct signal connection is provided between the wireless interface circuit and a keyboard. A baseband circuit encrypts data to be transmitted and decrypts received data. The wireless interface device has built-in scanning and decoding functions for an input device such as a keyboard or a mouse. The wireless interface device has power saving functions to extend the battery life of the input device. The wireless interface device has the capability of automatically selecting between several communication frequencies or channels. The wireless interface device has the capability of automatically selecting between several data rates.

  • Publication number: 20050057060
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments disclose a fastening system with an object including a securement structure with an extension element adapted to be compressed by a fastener. A portion of the securement structure extends above a first end of a compression reinforcement device. The extension element is adapted to be compressed by a fastener such that the portion of the securement structure is positioned substantially level with the first end and wherein the compression reinforcement device and the securement structure both receive compressive force from a fastener.

  • Publication number: 20050057061
Abstract: A cargo protecting system for a pickup truck includes a metal support structure that is in a fixed position relative to a pickup truck. A bed floor is fixedly supported by the metal support structure, and the bed floor includes a first support surface for directly supporting cargo, wherein the first support surface is substantially coplanar with a plane. A first chamber is disposed substantially beneath the plane and can be defined by a first shell having first and second openings. The first chamber is accessible from above the plane through the first opening, and the first and second openings can be of sufficient size and dimension to allow the passage of a spare tire. Exemplary embodiments can include a second chamber disposed substantially directly beneath the bed floor and adjacent to the second opening, wherein the second chamber is separate from the first chamber and accessible from the first chamber through the second opening.
