  • Patent number: 4680017
Abstract: A propeller guard includes a rigid U-shaped sleeve which has a pair of legs extending on either side of the lower housing in the motor. The cavitation plates on the lower housing are received within a U-shaped channel formed in the sleeve for mounting the guard upon the motor. A cylindrical shield having an open inlet end and an open outlet end is secured to the sleeve and encircles the propeller to protect the propeller from contact with foreign objects. A frame member extends downwardly from the forward edge of the sleeve to the lower portion of the inlet end of the shield and engages the leading edge of the lower housing to provide structural support for the guard. A plurality of horizontally disposed ribs extend from the frame member to the shield to further protect the propeller from contact with foreign objects. A gridwork is pivotally mounted over the open outlet end of the shield to further protect the propeller from contact with foreign objects.

  • Patent number: 4194810
Abstract: The reflector attaches to the rim of a wheeled vehicle and revolves about the center of the wheel, thus following an eccentric path when the vehicle travels in a straight path. The reflector has one surface which is substantially parallel to the plane of the wheel and another surface which extends transversely of that plane. In this manner, the driver of the vehicle may easily see the reflections and a stationary observer may also be aware of the reflector. While the wheel is rotating, the path of the reflector becomes obvious and in cases of wheels which have become locked due to defective brakes, or the like, the reflector will remain stationary and follow a linear path along the highway, thus giving an indication that the brake is defective.

  • Patent number: 4095709
Abstract: A first elongated horizontal support arm has one inner end thereof anchored to one of the side longitudinal frame members of a vehicle adjacent the rear end thereof. The other free end of the support arm projects laterally outwardly from the vehicle frame but terminates inwardly of the corresponding rear side body portion of the vehicle. The other free end of the support arm includes upstanding guide structure from which an upstanding support member is mounted for guided vertical shifting relative thereto and adjustment structure is carried by the outer free end of the support arm and is operatively connected to the support member for shifting the latter relative to the guide structure and retaining the support member in vertically shifted position.
