  • Patent number: 5761908
Abstract: A self-contained ventilation apparatus is disclosed for ventilating buildings, e.g., patient rooms such as hospital rooms, waiting rooms, hospital operating rooms, doctors' offices, and clinics, especially rooms contaminated with infectious microorganisms. One or more blowers is provided. When there are two blowers, a first blower is provided for discharging room air to the atmosphere and a second blower is provided for introducing fresh outside air to the room to provide a continuous supply of fresh air to the room which is free of disease organisms. Both streams of air pass through an air-to-air heat exchanger to adjust the temperature of the incoming air to approach that exhausted from the room. When filters are used, both currents of air are preferably filtered, e.g., with a high efficiency particle air (HEPA) filter. Provision is made for automatically maintaining room air pressure at the desired value (typically below that of surrounding rooms) as filters gradually become clogged with dust.

  • Patent number: 5069041
Abstract: An industrial electronics air conditioner has a cabinet with top, bottom, side and end panels, an electromechanical refrigeration system within the cabinet, an easily removable elongate condenser blower and motor module which comes out and goes in transversely when a side panel is removed, an easily removable evaporator blower and motor module having a centrifugal blower wheel and manual latches for retention to and removal from an end panel, a unique improved structure of intersecting interior barriers defining air outlet plenums and crossing hot ambient and cooled load outlets, and unique corrugated plastic exhaust ducting for exhausting hot ambient air to the outside of an electronics enclosure. A method of installing the air conditioner within the enclosure is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4811569
Abstract: A zero cube transport refrigeration unit suitable for a straight truck having a component arrangement which minimizes the height of the unit to provide maximum clearance for tilt cabs, and an air flow arrangement which discharges all noise generated by an internal combustion engine vertically upward from the top of the unit. Prime mover, evaporator, compressor and comdenser sections are laterally spaced from one side of the unit to the other, and a single power shaft runs through all of the sections. Evaporator and condenser air movers are directly mounted on the power shaft while the internal combustion engine, compressor, and optional electric standby motor, are all belted to the power shaft. The evaporator air mover is a centrifugal blower wheel, which provides excellent air distribution in the load space of a straight truck.
