  • Patent number: 7794512
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for delivering tungsten from a to a fuel combustion system or to the exhaust therefrom. By the present invention, tungsten from the lubricant or the fuel will interact with iron from the combustion process. In this manner, the tungsten scavenges or inactivates iron that can otherwise poison catalytic converters, sensors and/or automotive on-board diagnostic devices and/or reduce the operation of spark plugs. The present invention can also lead to improved durability of exhaust after treatment systems. Supplying tungsten acts to change the characteristics of iron deposits formed by combusting a fuel with iron.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 16, 2007
Date of Patent: September 14, 2010
    Assignee: Afton Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Allen A. Aradi, Joseph W. Roos, Dennis H. Rainear

  • Patent number: 7743738
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for delivering tungsten into a fuel combustion system or to the exhaust therefrom. By the present invention, tungsten from the lubricant or the fuel will interact with combustion products and, in particular, phosphorus, sulfur, and/or lead from the combustion products. In this manner, the tungsten scavenges or inactivates harmful materials which have migrated into the fuel or combustion products, and which can otherwise poison catalytic converters, sensors and/or automotive on-board diagnostic devices The present invention can also lead to improved durability of exhaust after treatment systems. A lubricant in accordance with the present invention is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4332923
Abstract: Low temperature, fast curing compositions suitable for coatings, particularly for paper and other heat sensitive substrates, consist of certain epoxy resins, certain organopolysiloxanes containing silanol groups and contain organo aluminum catalysts. For example, glassine or Kraft paper are coated with a mixture of a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin having an epoxide equivalent weight of 140, a hydroxyl endblocked polydimethylsiloxane having a degree of polymerization of about 10 and aluminum tris(acetylacetonate) and cured in one minute at 135.degree.
