  • Patent number: 6960054
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling dust generated by the rotary dumping or rail cars may include one or more flexible baffles are provided to the back-side of a rotary dump frame to seal a portion of the material receiving pit during a portion of the rotary motion. The dust cloud generated by this dumping is retained in the pit for an increased time due to tumbling of the cloud induced by the baffles and other features of the facility. A plurality of intake ducts removes the dust cloud from the pit for transfer to a remote filtering facility.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2002
Date of Patent: November 1, 2005
    Assignee: Air Cure, Inc.
Inventors: Dennis Hall, Michael Harris, Kal Ugargol

  • Patent number: 6093264
Abstract: A nickel-based alloy composition is disclosed comprising from about 0.05 to about 3 percent by weight beryllium; from about 1 to about 40 percent by weight copper; no greater than about 10 percent by weight chromium, the balance being nickel. The alloy composition may be adjusted to achieve a high, as-cast hardness alloy over a wide range of alloy component contents, or a moderate, as-cast hardness alloy useful for forming articles such as golf clubs which has relatively constant mechanical properties over a wide range of copper contents.

  • Patent number: 5070997
Abstract: A bakery oven system is disclosed which includes a bakery oven through which an endless conveyor may pass that carries bakery products to be treated in the oven. The conveyor includes a conveyor section located out of the oven and adapted to pass through a grid burn-off unit which serves to clean the grid on the conveyor. The grid burn-off unit includes a separate enclosure having a burner arrangement for applying heat to the conveyor to burn off residue on the conveyor. A plurality of brushes are located downstream of the burn-off enclosure, in the direction of travel of the conveyor, to clean carburized material off of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4629178
Abstract: A transport mechanism is disclosed for transporting a document around a track in a groove. A boundary wall in the form of a continuous wall or an array of guide cylinders is provided on the outside of a corner around which the track passes. A breaking cylinder which is rotated with the same surface velocity as the document constricts the document against the boundary and opens out any longitudinal folds therein to reduce the mechanical strength which they cause in the document. A drive mechanism then flattens the document against the boundary and renders the document flexible for the continuation of its transportation around the curved track. Dog-ears on the leading edge of a document are conditioned to prevent their causing impediment to further document transportation either by being folded back against the document or by being folded back into the plane of the document.

  • Patent number: 4096772
Abstract: A tire slitting apparatus for slitting tire carcasses circumferentially into segments comprises a frame with a tire slitting head mounted thereon to fit inside the body of a tire, and tire drive means to rotate the tire around the tire slitting head. Cutting means are mounted on the tire slitting head to slit the tire and external guide means are positionable against the side walls of the tire to guide and stabilize it during the slitting.

  • Patent number: 3976884
Abstract: A method for remotely monitoring the concentration of a particular gas species in a gaseous mixture. The remote detection of pollutants emitted in source effluents, e.g., gas from a smokestack, involves specific spectral measurements of infrared radiation and, in this method, includes ratioing the signals from two gas-reference cell pairs to eliminate dependencies upon the inlowering atmosphere and source effluent temperature. An instrument cell construction and assembly using a unique cells-within-a cell permits use of a single lens that insures common fields-of-view for both cell pairs; a triple chopping system uses tuning forks to alternately pass the incoming energy through the gas and reference cells eliminating the need for separate sync signal generators, and provides a high carrier frequency improving the signal-to-noise ratio of the sensor.
