  • Patent number: 7568988
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of the invention described herein includes a method and apparatus for providing a seal between at least the outer sidebar and pin bushing of a chain link assembly. The apparatus includes a seal having an outer collar and an inner resilient ring, the outer collar preferably having a mating ridge and the resilient ring being molded onto the collar. This seal also includes outer ribs for providing a sealed contact against the outer sidebar, and may include inner ribs. The seal is part of a chain link assembly positioned between the outer and inner sidebars and surrounding a pin bushing end. A fluid (e.g., grease) may be advantageously placed between the ribs, lubricating the rib—sidebar interface and thereby reducing wear of the ribs.

  • Patent number: 6141892
Abstract: An apparatus for limiting sliding wear and kick-back wear in straight sidebar chains as well as offset sidebar chains includes a wear bar which is attached to the outer surface of the chain's sidebar. The wear bar includes a main body portion having a forward wear bar end in opposed relation to a rearward wear bar end. An inner wear bar surface is positioned adjacent the outer surface of the chain's sidebar and is separated from an outer wear bar surface by a distance at least as great as the distance by which the chain's pin heads extend beyond the sidebars. In one embodiment, the upper edge of the wear bar includes a pair of semi-circular openings which fit closely adjacent the protruding pin heads. In another embodiment, the openings in the wear bar fully encircle the pin heads. A recess formed in the lower wear bar edge is used to weld the wear bar to the chain's sidebar. The lower edge of the wear bar may also be hardened to limit wear to the wear bar itself.

  • Patent number: 5239615
Abstract: A system for transporting liquefied, highly viscous waterproofing membrane from a kettle where the membrane is heated and stored to a remote location. The system comprises a pump assembly for pumping membrane out of the kettle, a pipe assembly coupled with the pump assembly for providing a passageway along which the membrane may be transported from the pump assembly to an intermediate location, and a lugger for receiving membrane discharged from the pipe assembly and for transporting the membrane to the remote location. The pipe assembly and the lugger include heating devices for maintaining the temperature of membrane being transported thereby at a selected temperature, typically in the range of 375.degree. F. to 425.degree. F.
